Don't Let Desires Cloud Your Happiness...

While for seven consecutive days the overall US stock indexes have been closing red.

There are many clouds on the horizon but let us not forget about the sun that is being covered.

Naval Ravikant has a very good metaphor when it comes to living life happily. As kids we learn to draw suns, clouds and rainbows. We see it all filled with optimism because at that age we have yet to really face challenges and problems life has to offer.

Naval elaborates that children genuinely are happy while adults tend to grow out of the joy and live a life with more pessimism. The latter has to do with the life experiences we face as we grow older.

The older we get the more we learn about the world and what challenges we face in order to succeed in chasing our dreams and aspirations. The deeper issues that make us pessimistic comes down to our increasing desires to wanting to achieve such dreams and aspirations. It is not wrong to have desires but we should try not to forget the main reason to achieving our desires.

Each desire can be considered a cloud in the sky. The more desires we have the more clouds are in the sky. With many clouds it may cover up the sun from view. We must always remember how the sun appears on its own as the sun by itself represents are dreams and aspirations.

The desire to complete a challenge or solve a problem stems from wanting something. Let that something be represented as the sun and not forget what it looks like. For there will be many desires that comes out of our lives trying to cover up the sun and make us forget the real reasons we do what we do day in and day out.

Let Your Sun Shine

It will be difficult to stay positive and optimistic in life when one has a lot of desires. This is where the metaphor can help. Remember what the real reasons you have your desires and let it be the sun. The desires will always cloud the sun from view. The desire to be rich, or powerful, or popular are some of the most common. Yet why do we desire them in the first place? It maybe because we want financial freedom, a sense of security, control of our lives, and many other dreams and aspirations. Keep the sun in view, always.
