MY HOMESTEADING SUCCESS. HOW MY IMAGINATION PLAYED OUT

avatar

Greetings to everyone here and happy weekend. Getting to know about this community is something of joy, I must say I am happy with myself.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having cultivated this thought of growing some plants around the house has indeed yielded a positive result and also help me save up. It's one thing I keep being happy about whenever I know I can get most things in my garden without having to go to the market or store to get it.

The cost of things currently are too exorbitant and this leaf is one of leaves that can't be left out when making Vegetable soup Also, from the region I base, this leaf doesn't go a day without being used for soup. So, the high demand made it very costly.

Few months back, while washing the water leaf I bought from the market to prepare soup, I had something whispered in my ears. "You can actually plant this in the house and it will grow instead of buying Everytime in the market". These words gave me the backbone to give it a try.

Early in the morning the next day, I tilted the ground in front of the house, made a small ridge and inserted the stem to the ground. Few months after I planted them, they started sprouting. This gave me joy. This water leave has indeed been saving me.

When I saw the improvement, I knew the soil was good for planting. I was motivated, in early July, while cooking one day, the pepper I washed, some of the seeds fell into the water which I took downstairs and poured it in a section of the garden.

To my greatest surprise, this pepper also survived. Just remaining a bit and I will start harvesting my first seeds.

CHAYA STEM AND LEAVE

Then,I also have this Chaya leaf popularly known as "Hospital dey far" in my country. It comes with lots of health benefits. I use it to prepare all kinds of food and most times take it as blood tonic by shredding and blending, then sieve out the juice and drink.

Am still looking forward to planting more of these every day home use food needed ingredients. I also tried Aloe vera which died off but later found out from people that too much watering can make them go stunted. Still not giving up,I decided to try this method instead of planting it directly on the ground and it is improving gradually.

@peterale, how I wish you can. It helps reduce a lots of minor expenses and serve as form of charity to others because people will definitely want to come get and use and also even get from yours to plant in their homes. Sorry for late response, I have been away lately on the block chain.

I love Waterleaves, they are one of my favorites and I used them in cooking my stew, they thrive mostly in the raining season...

That chaya or hospital too far is a blood replenishing leave and value it so much...
