Is Everyone Really Equal?

(Edited)

Everyone should be treated equally and should be entitled to all rights without distinction. But in our world today, inequality has taken over where we think that some people are inferior while others are superior, hence they deprived them of their rights by treating them in a degrading way. Everyone is entitled to make their choice without interruption. Inequality has deprived some people to achieve their dream because our society thinks that everyone doesn't have equal rights, this issue has made them unsuccessful. Some opportunities are limited to some people while some can get it at a finger flick.

Sometimes, the whole scenario made me think, is everyone really equal? the truth remains, some people are granted higher opportunities than others because of their gender, race, and color, these are some of the factors bringing inequality in our society. However, the phrase about everyone being born equal can be confusing at times, from a certain perspective, the individual is not born equal because some people are born very smart and vice versa,we have different personalities and in terms of materialism, some people are richer and are living comfortably, but being entitled to equal treatment under the law indicates that all men are equal. Everyone should be treated equally, but humanity is still a long way from equality, we tend to make status to determine equality in our society.

Equality under the law makes individuals not to have have poor chance to opportunities irrespective of where they come from. Equality under the law makes people who are rich and those with additional worth be considered fundamentally not better than anyone else, even the worse criminal can be seen as a member of the human race. And those who violate the law should be dealt with equally in law and practice but in our society today, the law does not affect some people because they are higher than others in terms of wealth and riches.

Equality in the world

In our world today, race, religion, sex, etc is an issue that affects every country in the world and it has brought inequality across and among countries. We believe that we are different from other people/countries and this tends to destroy people's self-worth and sense of fulfillment. How can we make the world a better place when some people are not given equal opportunities to services, and a chance to live a better life? No matter where we come from or who we are, equality for everyone in the world can be achieved. Reducing inequality in the world is a great transformation because it will promote inclusive social and economic growth.

Gender Inequality

Everyone should be equal regardless of gender, but discriminating and stereotyping the other gender are found in our society today. This start from our different homes, Where we believe that one gender is superior to the other gender. Our parents always show inequality even when it comes to household work. And this extends to our society and across the world. This gender Inequality is limiting the feminine gender on opportunities for professional growth, they believe that a particular work is meant for a masculine gender. However in our present world today, some outdated stereotypes about women have been reduced because they have taken it upon themselves by confronting themselves with new challenges. They are boldly rising their voices against inequality but despite all the changes, there are still some opportunities that are restricted from them.. where is the equality?

Promoting Equality

Promoting Equality in our society and the world at large will make it a better place. No one should be above the law, w everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, and beliefs. There should be no discrimination, hence, everyone should have access to equal opportunities in all ramifications. Some people might not go with the idea, but that is the best way to promote equality in our societies.

Dear friend @maryjacy,

I am delighted with your reflection, and I join your concern for a more just and humane world, with less inequality. Education can help reduce the gap between equality and inequality. We find ourselves in a battle of visions, that of a competitive world and that of a lack of equality. It is one of the challenges of education proposed by the philosopher and teacher Edgar Morin in his book "The seven necessary knowledge for the Education of the Future". Some are interested in keeping the world that way and even invest huge amounts of money in wars, diseases, and other social problems that do not allow equal growth in society. I congratulate you on this incredible contribution. Your experience and reflection help sow a seed of knowledge about this problem of society in general.

what you Said is just the reality, but a sad one to withstand. Some people are ready to go any length in making sure they are above other people. And even in the high hierarchy are making the matter to be worse, when someone want to acquire everything that belong to everyone to themselves alone, because they think they are more superior and nobody can question them , that's so sad... This is making equality to be unattainable and this is limiting the society from improving.
But just like you said, proper education about inequality and equality will go a long way in putting things aright, I have always wished for a change.

Thanks for your impactful contribution, I appreciate you for taking your time to go through the article, It's a pleasure to have you around.

Yeah, we are not born equally, but there's are some things that should be equally done in the world....like being equal under the human law, but some people still think they are above the law due to their high status.
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your contribution.
