Nigerian Education, key to a changed lock 🔐

Greetings.
Due to the recent happenings in the Nigerian educational system, I came to the resolution of putting up this post. There are so many disheartening circumstances surrounding the Nigerian child of today. This circumstances we face right from the day our parents brought us to this planet Earth as a Nigerian. I still can remember when we were still kids, the dream of every parent then was to give their children the best of education, hoping they will be successful afterwards. I remember those days in nursery and primary, how we joyfully sang the songs of hope. I remember the song that says "parents listen to your children for we are the leaders of tomorrow". The quote "Education is the key"won't easily leave my head. However, one question that keeps pondering my mind is "Education in Nigeria is a key to what exactly? Many believes the answer to that question is "success", but if that's truely the answer, why aren't we successful after acquiring the key. Secondly, let's pretend the lies we were told then is true, "that we are the leaders of tomorrow", please when will the leadership in us activate because all I still see is half lived old men occupying the seat we were promised.

The best way to discourage education is to put the name Nigeria in it.
I do not wish to attack or riddicle my birth country but I won't be sincere to myself if I ignore to state the ugly circumstances the average Nigerian child has to pass through in the name of acquiring education. In Nigeria today, to acquire the so called key to success, the average man has to pass through a hell experience. The irony of this whole thing is, we pass through hell to acquire a key whose lock has been changed. This is the cause of the high unemployment rate in Nigeria because so many have the key but the locks has been changed by our mischievous leadership system. The evil side of this, is they tend to put the blame on us. But by statistics and observation, Nigerians who left the country after passing through the hell experience here do pretty well in the foreign countries. This leaves one with the question, if the fault is ours, how do we become successful outside our home land?

Remember when I said "if you want to discourage education put name Nigeria in it. Are you wondering why I altered such statement? You see, countries like Norway, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Greece, France and others offers a free or near free education to it's citizens but here in Nigeria education has been turned to business of extortion. A recent happening in Kogi State University shows the school authorities gave 2000 naira (equivalent $4) as gift to a first class graduant. This leave one to wonder what happened to offering scholarship for further education or landing such person with a quality job where he/she can showcase their talent. This same university pays over 100 thousand naira as fees. If you are in Nigeria, you know how difficult it is for a parent to come up with such amount, not to imagine when you have like 2,3,to 4 children in the university. What a better way to discourage education.

These things hasn't come with no effect as the dream of the average Nigerian child has changed from being the leaders of tomorrow to migrating out of the country. Probably, they will still be leaders of tomorrow but not in Nigeria. One thing about immigrants we don't know is this, there is first class citizen (by birth), there is second class citizen (by legal means), and there is you with no title other than immigrant. The worst of it is, some are undocumented immigrants. But nevertheless, it's quite better to be immigrants in other countries than pass through hell and maybe probably die of suffering in your own country. Perhaps I should have titled this the trail of a failed nation but even myself don't believe we have failed yet, but we will surely fail if we continue in this scam of education system

Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.

Are you saying people should be left struggling because you want to make strong men out of them. Countries with easier and smooth running system, how are we better than them?

If we don't make an effort to change our country we would have this issue for a long time.

We all need to do more. Think not about what your country can o for you, but what you can do for your country.
