The People Who Stay When You Have Nothing.

In life, there are people you will meet, and they will become a huge part of your life. They may not have necessarily given you an expensive thing or a huge amount of money. It could be just that they were there for you when you needed someone to stand with you and be there for you. I mean people who stay with you even when you have nothing to offer them.

And I have such people in my life as well; I'm grateful for their gift every single day. Thinking back now, if not for them, I would probably not be here doing this now. They didn't even check or ask if I could give them anything in return; they're just there for me, regardless. And like I said earlier, it might not even be that much of a big or huge thing, but because they are there, you know they will definitely be there even when they are capable of doing more, too.

And I've seen almost all sides of these things. I've not been here for long, but for the little time that I've been here, I can very well say that not everyone who says they will stay, help, care, love, assist, come through, and be there for you will do just that when you need them. Some people are very good at staying by you when you have something to offer them; some are very good at showing up for you when they know they will definitely benefit from it, and some are very good at standing by you when everything is going on well with you, but very few are good at being there for you when things get difficult. Those are the people that really matter and are worth holding dear.

Mind you, you don't need to own it all before you show kindness and be there for someone. And you also don't need to be loud about the good you do. Something as little as listening to the other person can be enough; something as small as advising them can be enough. And maybe that realization is what has helped me to always try and help whenever I can. Even when what I have is small or I have nothing to offer, I try my best to at least be there for the person. I know what it feels like to need help and see someone showing up for you. What the world needs at a time like this is more kind people.
