Blessed day dear ladies of the Beehive, I am pleasantly pleased to be with you every week, wow and we have reached THE 100TH EDITION OF THE COMMUNITY CONTEST.
This week with questions by the lady @trangbaby, who invite us to reflect and answer a topic of interest to all, I wish you success.
Romance scams are on the rise and anyone can be a target. Scammers create fake profiles on dating sites and apps, or contact their targets through popular social networking sites like Instagram and Facebook. They establish a relationship with their victims and build trust, sometimes for months or even years. They eventually ask for money, often pretending they need it for medical bills, travel expenses, or unexpected emergencies

Certainly romantic scams are the order of the day, every day you can read complaints or testimonies of people who were scammed through the different social networks Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp Tinder among others, what is also true is that we are all exposed to fall into temptation, scammers create false profiles with false photos and almost always very similar to an Adonis, they define themselves with very human, loving, family, affectionate, understanding, religious characteristics and sometimes victims of their relatives or partners and how to resist before so much honey
Statistics reveal that the most likely to fall for this type of scam are people over 50 years old, particularly I think that there is no age, nor sex to be the perfect target to fall, it just depends on the state of mind in which we find ourselves, it almost always happens in people with low self-esteem, alone and vulnerable.
Although there are exceptions, we have a history like the Tinder scammer who scammed beautiful and relatively young women.

What will you do to avoid falling victim to online dating scams?
The essential and logical thing is not to enter those dating sites, look for company or couples in person face to face, but if we fall into temptation and our hearts are cheated, we can try to avoid being cheated of our pocket or our money. Here I leave some recommendationsthat I would apply.
1- Always distrust, if someone is too perfect, they must not be very good, especially pay attention to the messages they send, many are copied and pasted from another website.
2- I think that demanding personal appointments, in a public place or video calls instead.
3- Do not send money, for any reason or adversity that I tell you. When the topic comes up, change the direction of the conversation.
4- Make an exhaustive search and investigation in Google with name and images, if it is real something you will get.
5- Discuss with other people, other thoughts and opinions can help make any decision better.
6- Do not help, downloading links that I sent you or sending a code that will reach your phone for x reason, that is with the intention of stealing information from your device or having access to your contacts.

Dating scams are unfortunately becoming more and more common, so it is important to be cautious of them. Those you mentioned are really good tips to avoid being scams.

"if someone is too perfect, they must not be very good"

If they seem too good to be true, they probably are scams :)

Thanks for participating !LADY

It's obviously that anyone can be a target for scammers, no matter their age. The scammers' only goal is to steal money, and they will use any means necessary to achieve that goal. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and these recommendations are important to be aware of scammer's tactics and avoiding being the victim. :)
