Arugula Fig Pizza is a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, with fresh figs and peppery arugula adding a unique twist to traditional pizza. This recipe features a base with tomato sauce and cheese, topped with fresh figs, arugula, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Here's how to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pizza crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup crumbled goat cheese or blue cheese
  • 6-8 fresh figs, sliced
  • 1-2 cups fresh arugula
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to the temperature specified for your pizza crust. If you have a pizza stone, preheat it as well for a crispier crust.

  2. Prepare the Crust: If using a store-bought crust, follow the package instructions. For homemade crust, roll out the dough to the desired thickness on a lightly floured surface. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet if using a pizza stone.

  3. Add the Sauce and Cheese: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the crust, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and then evenly distribute the crumbled goat cheese or blue cheese.

  4. Add the Figs: Arrange the sliced figs on top of the cheese, spacing them evenly across the pizza. You can add more or fewer figs, depending on your preference.

  5. Bake the Pizza: If using a pizza stone, transfer the pizza to the stone in the oven. Otherwise, place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.

  6. Add the Arugula: Once the pizza is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two. Add the fresh arugula on top, spreading it evenly.

  7. Finish with Balsamic Glaze: Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the arugula. You can use more or less depending on your taste. Add freshly ground black pepper to taste.

  8. Serve: Slice and serve the pizza while it's still warm. The combination of sweet figs, savory cheese, and peppery arugula is sure to be a hit.

Enjoy your Arugula Fig Pizza! This recipe is versatile—feel free to add other toppings like prosciutto or caramelized onions for an even more complex flavor profile. If you need more pizza recipes or other culinary ideas, I'm here to help.
