Los niños en la medida que van creciendo, empiezan a explorar el entorno, primero con su mirada, luego cuando aprenden a caminar son más curiosos. Es cuando las mamás llegan a perder la paciencia al ir constantemente detrás del niño, porque es una etapa donde se convierten en unos depósitos de aprendizaje, todo lo quieren tocar, llevarse cosas a la boca, sentir, probar, escuchar y jugar. No tienen capacidad de entender a totalidad los peligros que pueden haber de por medio y por eso siempre hay que estar atentos. Contaba mi mamá que estando muy pequeña tenía una curiosidad muy particular sobre los radios, siempre había una radio en casa que se oía todo el día hasta la noche.
Me encontraban subida en la mesa donde este estaba sonando y trataba de abrirlo, lo agitaba lo golpeaba, trataba de mirar dentro de él, y como no hablaba aun, no podía decir que era lo que me inquietaba del radio. En esos momentos en que nos pierden de vista sobre todo cuando hay más niños pequeños como era en aquellos tiempos en mi casa, dañe muchos de esos aparatos por lo que disciplinaron varias veces. Aun así no se me quitaba la costumbre. Cuando tenía unos cinco años todavía hacia lo mismo y mi papá me pregunto ¿Qué estás buscando, porque te gusta dañar las radios? No ves que ya no oirás música, yo no escuchare las noticias y tu mamá no oirá su novela preferida; “Martin Valiente” se llamaba la novela radial. Ya sabía hablar y le respondí: Estoy buscando a las personas chiquitas que hablan desde dentro, antes pensaba que era uno, pero son varios y no puedo encontrarlos, los quiero ver.
Fue entonces cuando mi papá hizo todo lo que estuvo a su alcance para que entendiera el funcionamiento del radio, pero no dio resultado, por lo que opto por abrirlo y mostrarme todo lo que había dentro y fue así que deje de comportarme como un agente secreto en constante búsqueda de los “enanitos de la radio”. Recuerdo oír a mi hermano decir: Escondan el radio que ya viene María a romperlo.

This is when moms lose patience when constantly going after the child, because it is a stage where they become learning deposits, they want to touch everything, put things in their mouths, feel, taste, listen and play. They do not have the capacity to fully understand the dangers that may be involved and that is why we must always be attentive. My mother told me that when I was very young I had a very particular curiosity about radios, there was always a radio at home that could be heard all day until night.
They would find me on the table where it was playing and I would try to open it, I would shake it, knock on it, try to look inside it, and since I didn't speak yet, I couldn't say what it was about the radio that bothered me. In those moments when they lose sight of us especially when there are more small children as it was in those times in my house, I damaged many of those devices so they were disciplined several times. Even so I did not get out of the habit. When I was about five years old I still did the same thing and my dad asked me, "What are you looking for, why do you like to damage radios? Don't you see that you won't hear music anymore, I won't listen to the news and your mother won't hear her favorite soap opera; "Martin Valiente" was the name of the radio soap opera. I already knew how to talk and I answered him: I am looking for the little people who talk from the inside, before I thought it was one, but there are several and I can't find them, I want to see them.
It was then when my dad did everything in his power to make me understand how the radio worked, but to no avail, so he opted to open it and show me everything that was inside and that's how I stopped behaving like a secret agent in constant search of the "little dwarfs of the radio".
