For some reason since I was a little girl I thought that some beautiful ornamental plants that my grandmother had in the corridor of her house in the country were called "crocinias". However, recently my mom told me about gloxinias and that's when it dawned on me that I was wrong. Actually, that's the name for the small houseplant characterized by its colorful, bell-shaped flowers.

The gloxinias in the garden at home are white in color and their interior is drawn by a fuchsia color that brings out their beauty. The flowers and leaves are large compared to the size of the plant, which is grown in a small pot provided with fertilized soil.

As for watering, it is important to be careful not to spray too much water, as it could harm the plant.

My mother has some hanging pots located in the corridor of the house, under a roof, where they receive only a little sunlight and, in general, enjoy the benefit of the shade and regulated humidity that this type of plant requires. I particularly love these flowers because they are so robust and colorful.

I consulted my mother about the duration of the flowering stage and she indicated that it lasts about three days. However, your gloxinia flowers adorn the space during different periods of the year. In other words, it is not limited to a particular season.

Por alguna razón desde pequeña pensé que unas hermosas plantas ornamentales que tenía mi abuela en el corredor de su casa en el campo eran llamadas "crocinias". Sin embargo, hace poco tiempo mi mamá me habló de las gloxinias y fue cuando caí en cuenta que estuve equivocada. En realidad, ese es el nombre que recibe la pequeña planta de interior caracterizada por sus coloridas flores en forma de campana.

Las gloxinias que hay en el jardín en casa son de color blanco y su interior se dibuja por un color fucsia que hace resaltar su belleza. Las flores y hojas son grandes en comparación con el tamaño de la planta, la cual se cultiva en un pequeño matero provisto de tierra abonada.

En cuanto al riego, es importante tener cuidado de no rociar demasiada agua, pues podría perjudicar a la planta.

Mi madre tiene dispuestos algunos materos colgantes ubicados en el corredor de la casa, bajo techo, donde apenas reciben la luz solar de manera tenue y, por lo general, gozan del beneficio de la sombra y humedad regulada que requiere este tipo de plantas. En lo particular, me encantan esas flores por ser tan robustas y coloridas.

Sobre la duración de la etapa de floración consulté a mi madre y me indicó que dura alrededor de tres días. Sin embargo, sus flores de gloxinia adornan el espacio durante diversos períodos del año. Es decir, no se limita a una temporada en particular.
