El evangelio de hoy narra el episodio donde Jesús de Nazaret, no solamente levanta a un paralítico postrado en una camilla, sino que le perdona sus pecados, lo libera de todas sus ataduras físicas y espirituales:
Viendo Jesús la fe de aquellos hombres, le dijo al paralítico: “Ten confianza, hijo. Se te perdonan tus pecados”... Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa”.
Ante la mirada incrédula y acusadora de algunos escribas que pensaron: “Este hombre está blasfemando” Jesús no le importó y otorgó el perdón y la salud al paralítico porque es compasivo y misericordioso y su misión en el mundo fue y sigue siendo salvar a la humanidad, liberar al oprimido y sanar al que sufre. Él es el camino, la verdad y la vida, es la luz que alumbra el sendero hacia Dios.
Pidamos a Jesús que nos otorgue su perdón y que nos libere de todo lo que nos ata al mundo. Amén.
Today's Gospel narrates the episode where Jesus of Nazareth not only lifts a prostrate paralytic on a stretcher, but also forgives his sins, frees him from all his physical and spiritual ties:
Seeing Jesus the faith of those men, he said to the paralytic: “Have confidence, son. Your sins are forgiven you.”...Get up, pick up your bed and go home.”
Before the incredulous and accusing look of some scribes who thought: “This man is blaspheming” Jesus did not care and granted forgiveness and health to the paralytic because he is compassionate and merciful and his mission in the world was and it remains to save humanity, liberate the oppressed and heal the suffering. He is the way, the truth and the life, he is the light that illuminates the path to God.
Let us ask Jesus to grant us his forgiveness and to free us from everything that binds us to the world. Amen.
En aquel tiempo, Jesús subió de nuevo a la barca, pasó a la otra orilla del lago y llegó a Cafarnaúm, su ciudad.
En esto, trajeron a donde él estaba a un paralítico postrado en una camilla. Viendo Jesús la fe de aquellos hombres, le dijo al paralítico: “Ten confianza, hijo. Se te perdonan tus pecados”.
Al oír esto, algunos escribas pensaron: “Este hombre está blasfemando”. Pero Jesús, conociendo sus pensamientos, les dijo: “¿Por qué piensan mal en sus corazones? ¿Qué es más fácil: decir ‘Se te perdonan tus pecados’, o decir ‘Levántate y anda’? Pues para que sepan que el Hijo del hombre tiene poder en la tierra para perdonar los pecados, –le dijo entonces al paralítico–: Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa”.
El se levantó y se fue a su casa. Al ver esto, la gente se llenó de temor y glorificó a Dios, que había dado tanto poder a los hombres.

At that time, Jesus got into the boat again, crossed to the other side of the lake and arrived at Capernaum, his city.
At this, a paralyzed man was brought to him on a stretcher. Seeing the faith of those men, Jesus said to the paralyzed man: “Have confidence, son. Your sins are forgiven."
Hearing this, some scribes thought, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Why do you think evil in your hearts? Which is easier: to say 'Your sins are forgiven', or to say 'Get up and walk'? Well, so that they know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins, -he then said to the paralyzed man-: Get up, take your stretcher and go home.
He got up and went home. Seeing this, the people were filled with fear and glorified God, who had given so much power to men.
