[ESP] “¿Por qué hacen tus discípulos algo que no está permitido hacer en sábado?” / [ENG] “Why do your disciples do something that is not allowed to be done on the Sabbath?”
[ESP] “El sábado se hizo para el hombre, y no el hombre para el sábado. Y el Hijo del hombre también es dueño del sábado”.

También hoy el Señor nos invita a huir del peligro de dar más importancia a la forma que a la sustancia. Nos llama a reconocer, siempre de nuevo, aquel aspecto esencial que es el verdadero centro de la experiencia de fe, es decir el amor de Dios y el amor del prójimo, purificándola de la hipocresía del legalismo y del ritualismo.
Lucas, Mateo, Marcos y Juan resaltan en sus respectivos evangelios el conflicto entre la religiosidad de los maestros de la ley y la espiritualidad de Jesús de Nazaret. En cuanto a la religiosidad de los que se hacían llamar maestros de la ley, los evangelistas resaltan el hecho de que ellos se centraban mas en el cumplimiento estricto de ritos, muchas veces impuestos por ellos mismos, sin ningún basamento en la ley de Moisés. Para los escribas y fariseos era mas importante el cumplimiento de un rito que la dignidad de la persona humana, el rito estaba por encima del amor, de la compasión, de la misericordia y del perdón.
Por otro lado está la verdadera espiritualidad de la que hablaba Jesús de Nazaret la cual consiste en entrar en contacto directo con el reino intangible pero real y eterno del Creador que se fundamenta en el amor a Dios y al prójimo. La hermana Mariela Martínez Higueras O.P. de la Congregación de Santo Domingo lo expresa de la siguiente manera:
El criterio de discernimiento, que utiliza Jesús para actualizar en su tiempo el mandato del cumplimiento del sábado es el mismo ser humano, su dignidad, la defensa de su vida, su integridad, su propio bien, la fraternidad universal. No hay ley de Dios que sea verdaderamente divina y pretenda atentar contra la vida o la dignidad del hombre y la mujer.
La cita anterior resume el conflicto de los maestros de la ley con Jesús de Nazaret. En el evangelio de hoy san Marcos 2, 23-28, nos señala uno de los conflictos de los cinco que Jesús tuvo que enfrentar ante las autoridades políticas y religiosas de su tiempo, el ayuno y la observancia del sábado. Dice el Padre Ricardo Búlmez en su reflexión del evangelio del 17 de enero de 2022 lo siguiente, cito: "El conflicto sobre el ayuno ocupa el lugar central. Dios no quiere sacrificios sino misericordia. El sacrificio, el ayuno, todo el maltrato o renuncia a cualquier placer no tiene sentido fuera del amor".
Even today the Lord invites us to flee from the danger of giving more importance to form than to substance. It calls us to recognize, always anew, that essential aspect that is the true center of the experience of faith, that is, the love of God and the love of neighbor, purifying it from the hypocrisy of legalism and ritualism.
Lucas, Mateo, Marcos and Juan highlight in their respective gospels the conflict between the religiosity of the teachers of the law and the spirituality of Jesus of Nazareth. Regarding the religiosity of those who called themselves teachers of the law, the evangelists highlight the fact that they focused more on the strict observance of rites, often imposed by themselves, without any basis in the law of Moses. For the scribes and Pharisees, the fulfillment of a rite was more important than the dignity of the human person, the rite was above love, compassion, mercy and forgiveness.
On the other hand, there is the true spirituality that Jesus of Nazareth spoke of, which consists of entering into direct contact with the intangible but real and eternal kingdom of the Creator that is based on love for God and neighbor. Sister Mariela Martínez Higueras O.P. of the Congregation of Santo Domingo expresses it in the following way:
The criterion of discernment that Jesus uses to actualize in his time the mandate to fulfill the Sabbath is the human being himself, his dignity, the defense of his life, his integrity, his own good, universal brotherhood. There is no law of God that is truly divine and claims to threaten the life or dignity of men and women.
The above quote summarizes the conflict of the teachers of the law with Jesus of Nazareth. In today's Gospel Saint Mark 2, 23-28, points out one of the five conflicts that Jesus had to face before the political and religious authorities of his time, fasting and the observance of Saturday. Father Ricardo Búlmez says in his reflection on the gospel of January 17, 2022 the following, I quote: "The conflict over the fasting takes center stage. God does not want sacrifices but mercy. Sacrifice, fasting, all mistreatment or giving up any pleasure has no meaning outside of love."

Un sábado, Jesús iba caminando entre los sembrados, y sus discípulos comenzaron a arrancar espigas al pasar. Entonces los fariseos le preguntaron: “¿Por qué hacen tus discípulos algo que no está permitido hacer en sábado?”
Él les respondió: “¿No han leído acaso lo que hizo David una vez que tuvo necesidad y padecían hambre él y sus compañeros? Entró en la casa de Dios, en tiempos del sumo sacerdote Abiatar, comió de los panes sagrados, que sólo podían comer los sacerdotes, y les dio también a sus compañeros”.
Luego añadió Jesús: “El sábado se hizo para el hombre, y no el hombre para el sábado. Y el Hijo del hombre también es dueño del sábado”.
Palabra del Señor.
Gloria a ti SEñor Jesús.
One Sabbath, Jesus was walking through the fields, and his disciples began to pluck ears of corn as they passed. Then the Pharisees asked him: “Why do your disciples do something that is not allowed to be done on the Sabbath?”
He answered them, “Have you not read what David did once he was in need and he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, in the time of the high priest Abiathar, he ate the sacred bread, which only the priests could eat, and he also gave it to his companions.
Then Jesus added: “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. And the Son of man also owns the Sabbath.”
