Being Christians implies tuning our thoughts, words and deeds with our Lord Jesus Christ, being wonderful who taught us the way of love and peace that leads to the kingdom of God. In this enlightened path there are virtues and values that we must cultivate such as faith, hope and charity, prudence, justice, strength and temperance. In today's Gospel, the redemptive and healing power of Jesus of Nazareth, the savior of the world, the only son of God, is exposed for all to see; but you can also see the faith of many who came to Him with the hope of receiving forgiveness and healing from their illnesses; In addition, you can see the insistence and charity of those who wanted to see the paralytic man who was presented before the Messiah healed, that action of supreme faith made Jesus work wonders in the midst of the crowd and the envious Pharisees who did not waste a single minute of their lives trying to condemn Jesus; this time accusing him of blasphemy.

Empathy is a human value that deserves to be exalted and practiced by all, just as those men did who carried their paralyzed relative or friend on a stretcher so that the Lord would heal them. Charity is a beautiful Christian virtue that invites us to think and pray for our fellow men, speak or do something on their behalf; faith is not static but active and demands love of God and neighbor as ourselves. Today's Gospel gives us a great example of a Christian attitude towards life that motivates us to be compassionate and merciful and to believe in the great power of God.

Gloria a ti Señor Jesús

Reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (5,17-26):

One day Jesus was teaching and some Pharisees and doctors of the law were also sitting there, coming from all the villages of Galilee, Judea and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was with him to do healings.

Some men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a stretcher and trying to get in, to place him in front of him; But since they could not find a way to put it because of the crowd, they climbed onto the roof and lowered it onto the stretcher between the tiles and placed it in front of Jesus. When he saw the faith of those men, he said to the paralytic: "My friend, your sins are forgiven."

Then the scribes and Pharisees began to think: “Who is this individual who blasphemes like this? Who but God alone can forgive sins? " Jesus, knowing their thoughts, replied: “What are you thinking? Which is easier to say: 'Your sins are forgiven' or 'Get up and walk'? Well, so that they can see that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins –he said then to the paralytic–: I command you: get up, pick up your stretcher and go home ”.

The paralyzed man got up immediately, in the presence of all, took the stretcher where he had been lying and went home glorifying God. All were astonished and gave glory to God, and filled with fear, they said: "Today we have seen wonders."

Lord's word

Glory to you Lord Jesus
