En el evengelio de san Lucas (14,1.7-11) se presenta una situación pedagógica interesante, se trata de una de las mas grandes enseñanzas de humildad dada por Jesús de Nazaret a un grupo de comensales que se encontraban en la casa de uno de los principales fariseos:
el que se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido Es evidente que Jesús deja esta enseñanza porque muchos de los que estaban en aquella casa procuraban escoger los primeros puestos para sentirse mas importante que los demás; al ver eso, Jesús, les dejó la parábola de los convidados a la boda que leerán en el evangelio de hoy. El camino de la verdad funciona de manera distinta a la que exhibian los fariseos, ellos vivían de apariencias, de la arrogancia, la vanidad y la hipocresía, para los maestros de la ley de aquella época y para muchos contemporáneos eran muy importantes los cargos, lugares, escaños que ellos ocupaban, eso les daba prestigio, pero Jesús de Nazaret, los decepcionó con su magnífica enseñanza de la humildad.

In the Gospel of Saint Luke (14,1.7-11) an interesting pedagogical situation is presented, it is one of the greatest teachings of humility given by Jesus of Nazareth to a group of diners who were in the house of one of the main Pharisees:
whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted It is evident that Jesus leaves this teaching because many of those who were in that house tried to choose the first positions to feel more important than others; Seeing this, Jesus left them the parable of the wedding guests that they will read in today's Gospel. The way of truth works in a different way from that exhibited by the Pharisees, they lived on appearances, arrogance, vanity and hypocrisy, for the teachers of the law of that time and for many contemporaries the positions were very important, places, seats that they occupied, that gave them prestige, but Jesus of Nazareth, disappointed them with his magnificent teaching of humility.

Lectura del santo evangelio según san Lucas (14,1.7-11):
Un sábado, entró Jesús en casa de uno de los principales fariseos para comer, y ellos le estaban espiando. Notando que los convidados escogían los primeros puestos, les propuso esta parábola: «Cuando te conviden a una boda, no te sientes en el puesto principal, no sea que hayan convidado a otro de más categoría que tú; y vendrá el que os convidó a ti y al otro y te dirá: "Cédele el puesto a éste." Entonces, avergonzado, irás a ocupar el último puesto. Al revés, cuando te conviden, vete a sentarte en el último puesto, para que, cuando venga el que te convidó, te diga: "Amigo, sube más arriba." Entonces quedarás muy bien ante todos los comensales. Porque todo el que se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido.»

One Sabbath, Jesus entered the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat, and they were spying on him. Noting that the guests chose the first places, he proposed this parable: "When you are invited to a wedding, you do not sit in the main position, lest they have invited another of more category than you; and the one who invited you and the other will come and say to you, "Give the position to this one." Then, embarrassed, you will go to occupy the last position. On the contrary, when you are invited, go sit in the last place, so that, when the one who invited you comes, he will tell you: "Friend, go up higher." Then you will look very good before all the diners. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
