Tristeza sienten los padres cuando sus hijos actúan distinto a los principios y valores del hogar y la pena se apodera de sus almas al ver que los excesos pueden mas que la moral y las buenas costumbres. En el evangelio de hoy, san Lucas 19, 41-44, narra con detalle el llanto del Mesías al contemplar la ciudad santa de Jerusalén sumida en el pecado y ciega ante la luz de Dios.

Sadness is felt by parents when their children act differently from the principles and values of the home and grief takes over their souls when they see that excesses can do more than morality and good customs. In today's Gospel, Luke 19:41-44, he narrates in detail the weeping of the Messiah as he contemplates the city of Jerusalem plunged into sin and blind to the light of God.

Congoja fue lo que sintió Jesús de Nazaret al ver que su sacrificio de amor sería en vano. Él sabía que su hora estaba cerca pero lo que mas le martirizaba era que muchos, en la Ciudad Santa de Jerusalén, preferían a los dioses mundanos que al verdarero y único Dios: “¡Si en este día comprendieras tú lo que puede conducirte a la paz! Pero eso está oculto a tus ojos. Ciegos ante las cosas de Dios y despiertos ante las tinieblas, envueltos en el pecado de la idolatría, en la envidia, el odio y la hipocresía esperando a su redentor para despreciarlo y crucificarlo. Jesús lloraba mas por ellos que por lo que le iba a ocurrir. Hoy nos habla para pedirnos fidelidad, Él volverá a nosotros por lo que es necesario mantener las lámparas encendidas y velando porque no sabemos ni el día ni la hora, lo cierto es que vendrá y debemos estar alertas, de lo contrario es posible que Jesús nos repita: vendrán días en que tus enemigos te rodearán de trincheras, te sitiarán y te atacarán por todas partes y te arrasarán. Matarán a todos tus habitantes y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, porque no aprovechaste la oportunidad que Dios te daba.

Sadness, Jesus of Nazareth felt when he saw that his sacrifice of love would be in vain. He knew that his hour was near but what tormented him the most was that many, in the Holy City of Jerusalem, preferred the worldly gods to the true and only God: lead you to peace! Blind before the things of God and awake before the darkness, wrapped in the sin of idolatry, in envy, hatred and hypocrisy waiting for their redeemer to despise and crucify him. Jesus wept more for them than for what was going to happen to him. Today he speaks to us to ask us for fidelity, He will return to us so it is necessary to keep the lamps lit and watching because we do not know the day or the hour, the truth is that it will come and we must be alert, otherwise it is possible that Jesus repeat: days will come when your enemies will surround you with trenches, besiege you and attack you everywhere and devastate you. They will kill all your inhabitants and they will not leave stone on stone in you, because you did not take advantage of the opportunity that God gave you.

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús estuvo cerca de Jerusalén y contempló la ciudad, lloró por ella y exclamó:

“¡Si en este día comprendieras tú lo que puede conducirte a la paz! Pero eso está oculto a tus ojos. Ya vendrán días en que tus enemigos te rodearán de trincheras, te sitiarán y te atacarán por todas partes y te arrasarán. Matarán a todos tus habitantes y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, porque no aprovechaste la oportunidad que Dios te daba”.
