Before the faith that the blind Bartimaeus professed; In today's Gospel, Sunday October 24, 2021, Saint Mark (10, 46-52), tells us one of the most beautiful miracles done by the Messiah: “Son of David, have mercy on me! "... Then Jesus said to him:" What do you want me to do for you? " The blind man replied: "Master, may I see." Jesus said to him: “Go away; your faith has saved you ”. In a moment he regained his sight and began to follow him down the road. The evangelists Luke 7:22 and Matthew 11: 5 left us the following testimony: "The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor the gospel is announced" What more sign did Jesus' contemporaries need to believe that He was the Messiah and son of God? What more sign do we need to understand the power of Christ Jesus? His word is as powerful as his presence! What are we waiting for to ask Him to tune our ears and return the vision of faith to our eyes so that we can hear His word of life and observe His glory and what the world prevents us from seeing?

Bartimaeus taught us a beautiful prayer: "Jesus, have compassion on me! Jesus, have compassion on me!" How much blindness exists in the world today? Christians need to insistently pronounce the phrase of Bartimaeus so that the Messiah will return our sight to this world of darkness that prevents us from seeing the love of God. Let us learn to be persevering as bartimaeus was who, before those who tried to prevent him from shouting, imploring Jesus for his healing, he cried louder, he did not remain silent and in the end his faith returned his sight and saved him, and from that moment on, he followed the Master, Jesus of Nazareth. We all have this voice inside. A voice that springs spontaneously, without anyone sending it, a voice that questions the meaning of our path down here, especially when we are in darkness: "Jesus, have compassion on me! Jesus, have compassion on me!"

A reading from the holy gospel according to Mark 10: 46-52

At that time, when Jesus was leaving Jericho in the company of his disciples and many people, a blind man named Bartimaeus was sitting on the side of the road begging for alms. Hearing that it was Jesus the Nazarene who was passing by, he began to shout: "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!" Many rebuked him to be quiet, but he kept shouting even louder: "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

Jesus stopped then and said, "Call him." And they called the blind man, saying: “Courage! Get up, because he calls you ”. The blind man threw away his cloak; He jumped to his feet and approached Jesus. Then Jesus said to him: "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man replied: "Master, may I see." Jesus said to him: “Go away; your faith has saved you ”. In a moment he regained his sight and began to follow him down the road.
