Siguiendo con las parábolas escatológicas de la vigilancia que tanto habla Jesús a sus discípulos, san Lucas (12,39-48) nos presenta dos casos en los que el Mesías instruye a los suyos para que estén preparados; en el primer caso dice Jesús: “Fíjense en esto: Si un padre de familia supiera a qué hora va a venir el ladrón, estaría vigilando y no dejaría que se le metiera por un boquete en su casa. Pues también ustedes estén preparados, porque a la hora en que menos lo piensen, vendrá el Hijo del hombre”. Aquí Jesús pone como ejemplo al dueño de la casa que debe velar para que no lo roben. La idea es evitar sorpresas y es por eso que la esencia del ejemplo es estar alertas, porque en lo que menos lo pensemos, Él vendrá a pedir cuentas. De lo que se trata es de ser fieles en el cumplimiento de la palabra de Dios. Recordemos que ser auténticos cristianos implica fe en la Providencia así como concienciar y practicar en todo momento el amor a Dios y al prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Cada segundo de nuestra existencia debe estar presente el compromiso cristiano que implica pureza de pensamiento, palabras y obras; ser fieles a la palabra de Dios en todo momento es la clave.

Continuing with the eschatological parables of vigilance that Jesus speaks so much to his disciples, St. Luke (12:39-48) presents us with two cases in which the Messiah instructs his own to be prepared; in the first case Jesus says: "Look at this: If a father of a family knew what time the thief was going to come, he would be watching and would not let him get into his house through a hole. For you too be prepared, for at the hour when you least think about it, the Son of man will come." Here Jesus gives as an example the owner of the house who must watch so that it is not stolen. The idea is to avoid surprises and that is why the essence of the example is to be alert, because in what we think less about, He will come to ask for accounts. It is about being faithful in the fulfillment of God's word. Let us remember that being authentic Christians implies faith in Providence as well as raising awareness and practicing at all times the love of God and neighbor as ourselves. Every second of our existence must be present the Christian commitment that implies purity of thought, words and deeds; being faithful to God's word at all times is key.

En el segundo caso, ante la pregunta de Pedro: «Señor, ¿dices esta parábola por nosotros o por todos?». El Mesías le hace referencia a las responsabilidades que deben tener ante la comunidad o ante el pueblo de Dios: «¿Quién es el administrador fiel y prudente a quien el señor pondrá al frente de su servidumbre para que reparta la ración de alimento a sus horas?Bienaventurado aquel criado a quien su señor, al llegar, lo encuentre portándose así. En verdad os digo que lo pondrá al frente de todos sus bienes." Aquí los encargados de llevar el mensaje de Dios a los demás son los que tienen la mayor responsabilidad de tratar al prójimo como a ellos mismos, todos somos importantes en la viña del Señor por lo que nadie debe descuidar sus funciones de fe y de compromiso cristiano, quien lo haga entonces recibirá sobre él el castigo que impone la justicia divina: "El criado que, conociendo la voluntad de su señor, no se prepara ni obra de acuerdo con su voluntad, recibirá muchos azotes; pero el que, sin conocerla, ha hecho algo digno de azotes, recibirá menos." La ley se aplicará con el rigor de la justicia a quienes, conociendo lo que tienen que hacer, no lo hacen o peor aun, hacen lo contrario; sin embargo, aquí también se aplica el principio del Derecho, (ignorantia juris non excusat o ignorantia legis neminem excusat), que es lo mismo que decir: la ignorancia no exime del cumplimiento de la ley. Pero el que, sin conocer la voluntad del Señor, ha hecho algo digno de azotes, recibirá menos. "El desconocimiento de la voluntad de Dios no sirve de excusa para su cumplimiento, porque aquí, como el principio legal, rige la necesaria presunción de que si una ley ha sido promulgada, debe ser por todos conocida.

In the second case, before Peter's question: ***"Lord, do you say this parable for us or for everyone?" Considerando el principio anterior me permito dejar un comentario mundano en esta reflexión sagrada: Presumo que este ejemplo cristiano, acompañado con el principio jurídico rige en todos los casos, por ejemplo en aquellos gobernantes de las naciones que hacen lo contrario a la ley y a sus funciones propias de los cargos que ocupan, pero también a los que votan por ellos a sabiendas que viven de la demagogia y de la hipocresía. Dicen en mi pueblo que: la culpa no es del ciego, sino de quien le da el garrote yo diría, en el caso de los que gobiernan mal y de los que votan por ellos lo siguiente: tan culpable es el ciego como el que le da el garrote. Lo cierto es que al finalizar el evangelio Jesús nos deja esta frase lapidaria: "Al que mucho se le dio, mucho se le reclamará; al que mucho se le confió, más aún se le pedirá."

Lectura del santo evangelio según san Lucas (12,39-48):
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Fíjense en esto: Si un padre de familia supiera a qué hora va a venir el ladrón, estaría vigilando y no dejaría que se le metiera por un boquete en su casa. Pues también ustedes estén preparados, porque a la hora en que menos lo piensen, vendrá el Hijo del hombre”.
Entonces Pedro le preguntó a Jesús: “¿Dices esta parábola sólo por nosotros o por todos?”
El Señor le respondió: “Supongan que un administrador, puesto por su amo al frente de la servidumbre con el encargo de repartirles a su tiempo los alimentos, se porta con fidelidad y prudencia. Dichoso ese siervo, si el amo, a su llegada, lo encuentra cumpliendo con su deber. Yo les aseguro que lo pondrá al frente de todo lo que tiene.
Pero si ese siervo piensa: ‘Mi amo tardará en llegar’ y empieza a maltratar a los otros siervos y siervas, a comer, a beber y a embriagarse, el día menos pensado y a la hora más inesperada llegará su amo y lo castigará severamente y le hará correr la misma suerte de los desleales.
El siervo que conociendo la voluntad de su amo, no haya preparado ni hecho lo que debía, recibirá muchos azotes; pero el que, sin conocerla, haya hecho algo digno de castigo, recibirá pocos.
Al que mucho se le da, se le exigirá mucho; y al que mucho se le confía, se le exigirá mucho más.

A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (12,39-48):
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Look at this: If a householder knew what time the thief is coming, he would be watching and would not let him enter through a hole in his house. Well, you too be prepared, because at the time when you least think about it, the Son of man will come. "
Then Peter asked Jesus, "Are you telling this parable just for us or for everyone?"
