En el evangelio de hoy, domingo 9 de enero de 2022, el evangelista san Lucas (3,15-16.21-22), nos presenta el momento en el que Jesús de Nazaret se presenta, con mucha humildad, ante Juan el Bautista, para que éste lo bautizara. Ya Juan venía advirtiendo a sus discípulos y a toda la gente que le seguía:

«Yo los bautizo con agua; pero viene el que es más fuerte que yo, a quien no merezco desatarle la correa de sus sandalias. Él los bautizará con Espíritu Santo y fuego».

      Y tal como lo venía anunciando el Bautista llegó el día tan esperado, el bautizo de Jesús de Nazaret, la presentación del Mesías, el unigénito de Dios:

«Tú eres mi Hijo, el amado; en ti me complazco».

      Esta revelación de Dios a los hombres es tan importante, que el episodio lo mencionan los cuatro evangelistas: Mateo 3,13-17; Marcos 1,9-11; Lucas 3,21-22; Juan 1,29-34.​ Con este bautismo Jesús de Nazaret comienza su ministerio público. Después que es bautizado con agua y con el Espíritu Santo, que bajó del Cielo y se posó sobre su cabeza, Jesucristo comenzó su misión en la tierra predicando la Buena Nueva a la humanidad.

NOTA: La Iglesia católica conmemora este día bajo el nombre de Solemnidad del Bautismo del Señor, siendo que se celebra después del domingo dedicado a la solemnidad de Epifanía cuando finaliza el tiempo litúrgico de la Navidad.

In today's Gospel, Sunday, January 9, 2022, Saint Luke the Evangelist (3.15-16.21-22) presents the moment in which Jesus of Nazareth presents himself, with great humility, before John the Baptist, to let him baptize him. John was already warning his disciples and all the people who followed him:

«I baptize them with water; But the one who is stronger than I is coming, from whom I do not deserve to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize them with the Holy Spirit and fire».

      And just as the Baptist had been announcing, the long-awaited day arrived, the baptism of Jesus of Nazareth, the presentation of the Messiah, the only begotten of God:

«You are my Son, the beloved; I am pleased with you».

      This revelation of God to men is so important that the episode is mentioned by the four evangelists: Matthew 3,13-17; Mark 1,9-11; Luke 3,21-22; John 1: 29-34 With this baptism Jesus of Nazareth begins his public ministry. After being baptized with water and with the Holy Spirit, which came down from Heaven and rested on his head, Jesus Christ began his mission on earth by preaching the Good News to humanity.

NOTE: The Catholic Church commemorates this day under the name Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord, being celebrated after the Sunday dedicated to the Solemnity of Epiphany when the liturgical season of Christmas ends.

Lectura del santo evangelio según san Lucas (3,15-16.21-22):

En aquel tiempo, el pueblo estaba expectante, y todos se preguntaban en su interior sobre Juan si no sería el Mesías, Juan les respondió dirigiéndose a todos:
«Yo os bautizo con agua; pero viene el que es más fuerte que yo, a quien no merezco desatarle la correa de sus sandalias. Él os bautizará con Espíritu Santo y fuego».
Y sucedió que, cuando todo el pueblo era bautizado, también Jesús fue bautizado; y, mientras oraba, se abrieron los cielos, bajó el Espíritu Santo sobre él con apariencia corporal semejante a una paloma y vino una voz del cielo:
«Tú eres mi Hijo, el amado; en ti me complazco».

At that time, the people were expectant, and everyone wondered inside about John if he was not the Messiah, John answered them by addressing everyone:
«I baptize you with water; But the one who is stronger than I is coming, from whom I do not deserve to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire ».
And it happened that, when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized; And as he prayed, the heavens were opened, the Holy Spirit descended on him with bodily appearance like a dove, and a voice came from heaven:
«You are my Son, the beloved; I am pleased with you ».
