      La patente presentada el 26 de julio de 1923 bajo el número GB222604, por el británico John Logie Baird, marca el inicio de la Televisión. La patente que pertenece a un “sistema de transmisión de vistas, retratos y escenas por telegrafía o telegrafía sin hilos” fue la primera televisión. El ingeniero escocés John Logie Baird siguió mejorando su aparato de proyección de imágenes hasta que el 26 de enero de 1926, presenta ante la Royal Institution un aparato bautizado como televisión, capaz de transmitir imágenes a distancia.

[ENG] Brief historical overview

     The patent filed on July 26, 1923 under the number GB222604, by the British John Logie Baird marks the beginning of Television. The patent that belongs to a "system of transmission of views, portraits and scenes by telegraphy or wireless telegraphy" was the first television. The Scottish engineer John Logie Baird continued to improve his image projection apparatus until January 26, 1926, he presented to the Royal Institution a device baptized as television, capable of transmitting images at a distance.

      La intención con esta publicación es rememorar una anécdota familiar relacionada con la televisión. Cuando mi hermano mayor, Vicente Milano, comenzó a trabajar compró un televisor muy bonito, todos estábamos muy emocionados por aquella maravilla tecnológica, algo así como el cine en nuestra casa. Lo que mas recuerdo es la enorme antena que hubo que instalar en la parte delantera de la casa, exactamente en una esquina de la fachada principal, la antena en cuestión había que girarla hasta lograr una señal nítida, casi siempre me tocaba esa tarea, lo mas cómico era el grito que salía de la casa ¡DÉJALA AHÍ!... hasta que venía la brisa y la movía y yo tenía que repetir el mismo procedimiento, la brisa por un lado causando distorsión de la imagen y yo por el otro tratando de darle nitidez al televisor. Lo cierto fue que la radio,nuestro antiguo entretenimiento auditivo, quedó en segundo plano cuando llegó a nuestro hogar la famosa “caja mágica”, de la que habla magistralmente el escritor venezolano Eduardo Liendo en su libro titulado: "El mago de la cara de vidrio.’’

      The intention with this publication is to recall a family anecdote related to television. When my older brother, Vicente Milano, started working he bought a very nice television, we were all very excited by that technological marvel, something like the cinema in our house. What I remember the most is the huge antenna that had to be installed in the front of the house, exactly in one corner of the main facade, the antenna in question had to be rotated until a clear signal was achieved, I almost always had to do that. more comical was the cry that came out of the house, LEAVE IT THERE! ... until the breeze came and moved it and I had to repeat the same procedure, the breeze on one side causing distortion of the image and I on the other trying to sharpen the television. The truth was that the radio, our old aural entertainment, took a back seat when the famous "magic box" arrived at our home, about which the Venezuelan writer Eduardo Liendo speaks masterfully in his book entitled: "The Magician of the Face of glass.''

      Recuerdo la variedad de programas que veíamos en los dos principales canales nacionales, de los cuatro que existían en Venezuela, verdaderamente entretenían, informaban y educaban. Transmitían programas para todos los gustos. Uno de mis programas de humor favoritos era el del comediante, argentino, José "pepe" Biondi, el cual se titulaba “Viendo a Biondi”, yo disfrutaba cada capítulo, hasta que el televisor comenzó a fallar, había que darle unos golpecitos hasta que se estabilizara la señal; además de los golpes, muchas veces se tenía que apagar y volver a encender para que se le quitara una raya negra bastante gruesa que le salía de manera horizontal en la parte inferior.

     

[ENG] Memories that marked an era

      I remember the variety of programs that we saw in the two main national channels of the four that existed in Venezuela, they really entertained, informed and educated. They broadcast programs for all tastes. One of my favorite comedy programs was that of the comedian, Argentine, Pepe Biondi which was titled "Watching Biondi", I enjoyed each chapter, until the tv began to fail, you had to tap it until the signal stabilized; In addition to the blows, many times it had to be turned off and back on so that a fairly thick black stripe that came out horizontally at the bottom was removed.

      En uno de los capítulos de mi serie favorita empezó a molestar la línea negra y yo apagué y prendí el televisor, la interferencia se quitó pero pasado unos minutos volvió a aparecer, yo volví a apagar y prender, y así hasta que el televisor no prendió más, se quemó, o mejor dicho, lo quemé. Se podrán imaginar el susto que aquello me causó, todavía me acuerdo y me asusto. El primero en enterarse fue quien lo compró, mi hermano mayor, gracias a Dios no me regañó sino que él mismo trató de arreglarlo, pero al ver que no se podía lo llevó a un taller y lo arreglaron. El viejo televisor en blanco y negro volvió a la vida y yo volví a ser muy feliz. Mi hermano compró otro a color en el año 1982 y luego mi hermana, Zoraida , compró otro en el año 1985.

     

[ENG] Continuation of the anecdote

      In one of the chapters of my favorite series the black line began to bother and I turned off and on the television, the interference was removed but after a few minutes it reappeared, I turned off and on again, and so on until the television did not turn on more, it burned, or rather, I burned it. You can imagine the fright that that caused me, I still remember and it scared me. The first to find out was the one who bought it, my older brother, thank God he did not scold me but he himself tried to fix it, but when he saw that it couldn't be done, he took it to a workshop and they fixed it. The old black and white television came back to life and I was very happy again. My brother bought another in color in 1982 and then my sister, Zoraida, bought another in 1985.
