In the previous post I introduced the Iglesia San Juan Bautista, Caracas. this time I bring for you the church of Our Lady of Lourdes, religious architecture, neo-Gothic style, located in San Martín, Esquina de Palo Grande, Parroquia San Juan del Municipio Libertador, Distrito Capital, exactly in the western part of the city of Caracas, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

En la publicación anterior presenté la Iglesia San Juan Bautista, Caracas. esta vez traigo para ustedes la iglesia Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, arquitectura religiosa, de estilo neogótico, ubicada en San Martín, Esquina de Palo Grande, Parroquia San Juan del Municipio Libertador, Distrito Capital, exactamente en la parte oeste de la ciudad de Caracas, República Bolivariana de Venezuela.

Last Saturday, November 27, my beloved wife accompanied me to fulfill a promise that I made 30 years ago, to visit the San Juan Bautista Church of Caracas, better known as the Church of the Capuchins, (see previous link) when leaving that temple, We go to the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes which is located two blocks west, a beautiful neo-Gothic church well known for how imposing it is, for its stained glass windows and because it is the only temple in the West of Caracas where healing masses are held. and liberation.

El pasado sábado 27 de noviembre mi amada esposa me acompañó a cumplir una promesa que hice hace 30 años, visitar la Iglesia San Juan Bautista de Caracas, mejor conocida como la Iglesia de los Capuchinos, (ver link anterior) al salir de aquel templo, nos dirigimos a la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Lourdes que se encuentra a dos cuadras sentido oeste, hermosa Iglesia de estilo neogótico muy conocida por lo imponente que es, por sus vitrales y porque es el único templo del Oeste de Caracas donde se hacen misas de sanación y de liberación.

Upon arrival, we observed several people waiting for the temple to be opened in order to enter. My wife and I decided to take some photographs of the facade with the intention of recording the visit, we had no intention of entering because we live far from that holy place and the clock was already striking 2:30 in the afternoon, in addition, some clouds were visible black women towards our return route that announced a storm, for that reason we had to return early to our apartment, but then a lady approached me and invited me to participate in the healing and liberation mass and thus, at once, take advantage of photograph the interior, we did so and although we did not stay until the end, we were able to have a spiritual encounter with our faith and get the images that we show in this post. I have to clarify that both my wife's phone and mine are not the latest generation, that is the reason for the poor quality of the images.

Al llegar observamos varias personas esperando que abrieran el templo para poder entrar. Mi esposa y yo decidimos tomar algunas fotografías de la fachada con la intención de registrar la visita, no teníamos intenciones de entrar porque vivimos lejos de aquél santo lugar y ya el reloj marcaba las 2:30 de la tarde, además, se veían algunas nubes negras hacia nuestra ruta de regreso que anunciaban tempestad, por esa razón teníamos que regresar temprano a nuestro apartamento, pero en eso se me acercó una señora y me invito a participar en la misa de sanación y liberación y así, de una vez, aprovechara de fotografiar el interior, así lo hicimos y aunque no nos quedamos hasta el final, pudimos tener un encuentro espiritual con nuestra fe y obtener las imágenes que mostramos en esta publicación. Tengo que aclarar que tanto el teléfono de mi esposa como el mío no son de última generación, esa es la razón de la deficiente calidad de las imágenes.

According to information obtained on the web, this building is relatively new, dating from the 1920s, the project was started in 1922 by Father Augusto Pavageau He spent hours studying the Diccionnaire Raisonné de l’Architecture Francaise du XIe. Au XVIe. Siécle, by Eugene-Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc, renowned French architect of the Gothic revival. He drew sketches of various artistic creations that resulted in a project of ambitious and daring proportions for the time. On December 8, 1924, the first mass was celebrated between cement walls, glassless windows and a wooden ceiling destined to disappear to make way for the current vaults. The structure of the Church is cement and bricks that reaches 38 meters high.

Según información obtenida en la web esta edificación es relativamente nueva, data de los años veinte del siglo pasado, el proyecto lo inició, en 1922, el padre Augusto Pavageau Pasó horas estudiando el Diccionnaire Raisonné de l’Architecture Francaise du XIe. Au XVIe. Siécle, de Eugene-Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc, reconocido arquitecto francés del renacer gótico. Trazó bocetos de diversas creaciones artísticas que derivaron en un proyecto de proporciones ambiciosas y atrevidas para la época. El 8 de diciembre de 1924 se ofició la primera misa entre paredes de cemento, ventanas sin vidrios y un techo de madera destinado a desaparecer para dar paso a las bóvedas actuales. La estructura de la Iglesia es cemento y ladrillos que alcanza 38 metros de alto.

In 1957, the temple received the name that it bears today, in honor of its founders. They say that thanks to the economic contribution of the inhabitants of the sector and other donations, it was possible to build the central nave, which measures 8 meters wide and the two lateral ones, each 4 meters wide. Inside and outside the temple, the ornate arches and columns characteristic of Neo-Gothic art predominate. The 25 stained glass windows, in addition to their artistic beauty, allow the entry of daylight, which passes through the bright colors that contribute to the aesthetics of the sacred precinct.

En 1957, el templo recibe el nombre que hoy ostenta, en honor a sus fundadores. Cuentan que gracias a la contribución económica de los habitantes del sector y otras donaciones se logró levantar la nave central que mide 8 metros de ancho y las dos laterales de 4 metros de ancho cada una. Dentro y fuera del templo predominan los arcos adornados y las columnas características del arte neogótico. Los 25 vitrales, además de su belleza artística, permiten la entrada de la luz del día, la cual atraviesa a través de los vivos colores que contribuyen con la estética del recinto sagrado.

The main altar is made of Carrara marble from Italy that was incorporated into the chapel in 1950. It has three niches in which effigies of Our Lady of Lourdes rest, in the upper one, and San Joaquín and Santa Ana, parents of the Virgin , on the sides. The structure has cracks, traces of the 1967 Caracas earthquake. The oratory has been a National Historic Monument since August 2, 1960. Text

El altar mayor está hecho de mármol de Carrara proveniente de Italia que se incorporó a la capilla en 1950. Tiene tres nichos en los que reposan efigies de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, en el superior, y San Joaquín y Santa Ana, padres de la Virgen, en los laterales. In addition to the information obtained and the visit, the most important thing for us was that we participated in the beginning of the healing and liberation worship, my wife and I felt very good in that sacred place, we sang and directed praises to God. The activity was directed by a very dynamic young man to the sound of a group of musicians, which presumably are from the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. I took the opportunity to ask my Lord and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth, to pass his hand over my sick heart and heal it, I have faith that it was. Amen.

Además de la información obtenida y de la visita, lo mas importante para nosotros fue que participamos en el inicio del culto de sanación y de liberación, mi esposa y yo nos sentimos muy bien en aquel lugar sagrado, cantamos y dirigimos alabanzas a Dios. La actividad la dirigía un joven muy dinámico al son de una agrupación de músicos, los cuales presumo son de la Renovación Carismática Católica. Yo aproveché de pedirle a mi Señor y Salvador, Jesús de Nazaret que pasara su mano por mi corazón enfermo y lo sanara, tengo fe que así fue. Amén.

The temples, regardless of the time, are buildings that make an impression and we also find some as imposing as this church in Venezuela which is a very striking construction.
