Voilà près de trois mois que je me trouve sur l'île de Boa Vista, au mouillage dans la baie, voici donc un rapide tour d'horizon de cette île très polyvalente. Glisse, plongée, dunes, faune particulière, paysages désolés, fête, farniente, tout est à peu près possible sur cette île.
I’ve been on Boa Vista Island, anchored in the bay, for almost three months now, so here’s a quick overview of this very versatile island. Sliding, diving, dunes, special wildlife, desolate landscapes, partying, lazing, everything is almost possible on this island.

La grande baie de Sal Rei est la base de l'île. La ville est en pleine expansion et se propage toujours un peu plus sur des dunes disparaissant au fur et à mesure que le béton avance. Un béton construit par des promoteurs avides de loger le tourisme de l'île qui bien qu'assez discret aujourd'hui, laisse entrevoir un avenir assez chargé. On surf dans cette baie, on s'y allonge sur la plage, on plonge et on passe des vacances balnéaires dans un cadre qui est aujourd'hui encore très soutenable.
The great bay of Sal Rei is the base of the island. The city is expanding and is still spreading a little more on dunes disappearing as the concrete advances. A concrete built by developers eager to house the tourism of the island which although quite discreet today, suggests a rather busy future. We surf in this bay, lie down on the beach, dive and spend a seaside holiday in a setting that is still very sustainable today.

Plus au sud, les dunes de sable et la grande plage de Santa Monica permettent de s'évader totalement dans un décor superbe. Sur cette photo le sable est vert ! Et oui, il ne pleut pas souvent ici, mais lorsque c'est le cas, la verdure reprend sa place et le paysage est de toute beauté !
Further south, the sand dunes and the large beach of Santa Monica allow to escape completely in a superb setting. In this picture the sand is green! And yes, it doesn’t rain often here, but when it does, the greenery takes its place and the landscape is beautiful!

La côte Est est quant à elle totalement désertique. Un bon 4x4 ou une bonne paire de chaussures permettent d'y accéder. Il n'y a rien ou presque. Quelques bases de pêcheurs, quelques gardes pour les pontes de tortues, des vagues et c'est tout. Idéal pour ceux qui veulent passer du temps tout seul et découvrir la vie de souche du Cap-Vert.
The East Coast is totally desert. A good 4x4 or a good pair of shoes will get you there. There’s nothing or almost nothing. A few fishing bases, a few guards for turtle spawners, waves and that’s it. Ideal for those who want to spend time alone and discover the life of Cape Verde stock.
