Now that's cold! My Actifit Report Card: January 23 2026

Hey Actifitters,

The trend continued yesterday with plenty of sun and the temperatures getting even colder.

Le Chat looked for the warmer spots in the sunlight again. Smart cat!

We tried short breaks in the yard with Kaia, just to see how she could handle the cold.

No problem apparently, running in the snow still seemed very fun!

In spite of the bright sun, the temperature at the warmest in the afternoon was around -16C, measured on the deck in the backyard.

So we didn't wait too long and started our daily walk before the sun disappeared.

It started just as usual with a little jumping over the trees. But Kaia quickly stopped and showed signs of trouble with her paws.

I was surprised because we always stayed on snow and I didn't think it could get cold enough to bother Kaia's paws. But evidently it did and I needed to try something to help her. First we tried to put the doggie boots on her. It went as well as you could imagine. The best we could do was one boot on and she dropped it 5 seconds later... So I had the idea to try the musher's secret wax thing. It's the thing they use for sled dogs, and I remembered I had bought some for Genepi a few years ago. After applying it to her paws, we made another attempt to go to the small forest.

I guess third time is indeed the charm because she looked fine, with all her craziness back!

After a few loops, she even seemed as though she wanted to walk some more.

But it was better not to push it too much, so we walked back home and after burying her face in the snow one last time, Kaia was done for the day.

And we joined Le Chat in the warm house.

After that, I tried to monitor the temperature for a while and the last time I checked at night, it was still dropping and reaching the limits of the thermometer, around -25C...

Well, it was a cold day and even colder night! Y'all know we love cold but that is pushing it a bit at the moment. But we did manage to stay active outside, even though I couldn't make it anywhere close to the bar in #poprzeczka competition.
