Zingtober Day 9: Heavy - Zingu carrying a heavy and sleeping Gemino 🐧🐢

Good afternoon, my dear readers and members of the #Hive artistic community, especially all my dear friends in the #Holozing community. I hope you are all doing well and, of course, having an excellent and productive week. Greetings from your friend Manuel, who is very happy to be able to share a new artistic post for my blog with you. This time, I'm here to bring you my entry for today's Zingtober challenge. Although I've missed one or two of the challenge's works due to work commitments, I still think I've been a little more active than last year, and I hope to keep it up until I complete the entire challenge.

Muy buenas tardes mis queridos lectores y lectoras de la comunidad artística de #Hive, especialmente a todos mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de #Holozing, espero que todos se encuentren super bien y que, por supuesto estén teniendo una excelente y productiva semana, por aquí los Saluda su amigo Manuel super feliz de poder competirles un nuevo post artístico par mi blog. En esta oportunidad me encuentro por aquí para traerles mi entada correspondiente al día de hoy de la dinámica del Zingtober y aunque por cuestiones de trabajo me han faltado 1 o 2 de obras del reto, aun así he estado un poco más activo que el año pasado a mi parecer, y espero mantenerme así hasta culminar con la totalidad del reto.

Today's word is “Heavy,” and my idea was to draw the little Penguin (Zingu) carrying something extremely heavy, which in this case would be another one of the creatures, the big, heavy turtle (Gemino), who has fallen fast asleep. It will be Zingu's job to carry her back to her home.

La palabra correspondiente par el día de hoy es (Heavy), y mi idea fue dibujar al pequeño Pingüino (Zingu) cargando algo extremadamente pesado, que en este caso sería otra más de las criaturas, en este caso la gran y pesada tortuga (Gemino), la cual se ha quedado profundamente Dormida y será tarea de Zingu llevarla cargada de regreso a su hogar:

I started with a sketch of both creatures right in the middle of my canvas. In this case, I drew the small but strong little penguin (Zingu) in the middle of a path of ice blocks at the North Pole, walking with his arms raised as he carries the heavy (Gemino) sleeping soundly on them. Well, with the line art finished, I moved straight on to the most important part of my drawing, the coloring. In this case, I chose a color palette for Zingu consisting of fairly dark grays. I used my airbrush brush to achieve a fairly soft and smooth skin texture, except for the tips of Zingu's hands and upper legs. Here I did use my sketch brush to give it a slightly more rigid texture, as if using slightly lighter grays.

Empece con un boceto de ambas criaturas justo en el medio de mi lienzo, en este caso dibuje al pequeño pero fuerte pingüinito (Zingu) en medio de un sendero de bloques de hielo en el polo norte, caminado con sus brazos alzados ya que sobre ellos lleva al pesado (Gemino) durmiendo una profunda siesta. Bueno, con el line art terminado me pase directamente a la parte mas importante de mi dibujo, el coloreado, en este caso elegí para Zingu una paleta de colores conformada por grises bastante oscuros, en este caso use mi pincel de aerógrafo nada mas para lograr una textura de piel bastan suave y lisa, menos en la punta de las manos o patas superiores de Zingu, aquí si use mi pincel de boceto para darle una textura un poco mas rígida como si estas con grises un poco mas claros.

One of Zingu's defining features is that his beak is attached to a kind of golden crown on his head. My idea was to replicate these details as closely as possible, as if they were made of pure gold, but using the range of gray tones I had started with. I tried to make them very shiny at the top with fine, light gray lines. Then, in the center of its head, it also has a large gem or jewel. For this, I had to go back to my sketch brush because here I needed firmer strokes to shape each side of the crystal, as well as the sparkle and reflections characteristic of a real jewel.

Algo que caracteriza a Zingu es que su pico esta unido a una especie de corona de oro sobre su cabeza, mi idea fue replicar los mejor posible estos detalles como de oro puro, pero usando la gama de tonos grises con la que había empezado, trate de darles mucho brillo en la parte de arriba con líneas finas y grises claros. Luego en la parte central de su cabeza también lleva una gran gema o joya, para esto si tuve volver a mi pincel de boceto ya que aquí si necesitaba trazos mas firmas para darle la forma a cada uno de los lados del cristal, así como también brillos y reflejos característicos de una joya de verdad.

In the third stage of painting, I focused on creating the shape and body of the turtle (Gemino). Since my idea was for her to be asleep, it was a little easier. I painted her almost entirely inside her shell. However, I left the turtle's head outside so that it would look like it was really asleep. For this part, I used light gray tones, giving it a slightly softer texture and without so much detail, only on the eyelids and mouth. Then, for the shell, I used much darker grays and tried to give it a shape and texture with several sections so that it would look as realistic as possible. For the crystals on the turtle's back, I worked in the same way as with the gem on the penguin's forehead, only a little more irregular, with spikes and in various sizes.

En la 3ra etapa del pintado me ocupe de crear la forma y el cuerpo de la tortuga (Gemino), como en este caso mi idea era que ella estuviese dormida fue un poco mas fácil, la pinte prácticamente casi toda guardada dentro de su caparazón, aun así, deje la cabeza de la tortuga afuera para que se viera que realmente esta dormida, para esta parte use tonos grises claro dándole una textura un poco mas suave y sin tanto detalle, solamente en los parpados y la boca. Después para la parte del caparazón si use grises mucho mas oscuros y trate de darle una forma y textura con varias secciones para que se viese lo mas realista posible. En el caso de los cristales en la espalda de la tortuga trabaje de la misma forma que con el la gema en la frente del pingüino, solo que un poco más irregulares, con picos y de varios tamaños.
