The Heir, The Viking Sword of the Eternal Edge

Very good morning to all my dear readers, I hope you are having a great Friday and above all that you have had a profitable week, today I am here again to share with you a little work that I made practicing a little with the layer modes and with some brushes and I liked the result so much that I could not wait to show it to you, it is about a Viking warrior that I decided to call Landorsson, which is a skilled and fierce fighter with tremendous experience with the sword, Landorsson carries a sword forged by his father and which he inherited before his death, this sword has a great resistance besides being extremely light, and precisely because of this and his great ability our warrior has never lost a man to man combat:

Muy buen día tengan todos mis queridos lectores, espero estén teniendo un gran viernes y sobretodo que hayan tenido una provechosa semana, el día de hoy me encuentro por aquí de nuevo para compartirles una pequeña obra que realice practicando un poco con los modos de capa y con algunos pinceles y me gustó tanto el resultado que no podía esperar para enseñárselos, se trata de un guerrero Vikingo que decidí llamar Landorsson, el cual es un habilidoso y feroz luchador con tremenda experiencia con la espada, Landorsson porta una espada forjada por su padre y la cual le heredo antes de su muerte, esta espada tiene una gran resistencia además de ser sumamente ligera, y precisamente a esto y a su gran habilidad nuestro guerrero jamás ha perdido un combate hombre a hombre:

PROCESS / PROCESO

The main idea of this work was to make a simple medieval knight, but then as I was sketching I realized that the character had some similarity with the Viking warriors and therefore I chose to follow the structure of the character as that of a Viking warrior, I took a little time to achieve a good pose and above all that the sword looked properly with it. Once I finished with the skeleton of my work, the next step was the application of some primary colors to serve as a base.

La idea principal de esta obra era la de hacer un caballero medieval sencillo, pero luego a medida que iba bocetando me fui dando cuente de que el personaje tenía cierta similitud con los guerreros vikingos y pues por ello opte por seguir la estructura del personaje como la de un guerrero Vikingo, me tome un poco de tiempo para logra una buena pose y sobretodo que la espada se viera de manera adecuada con ella. Una vez habiendo finalizado con el esqueleto de mi obra lo siguiente fue la aplicación de algunos colores primarios que sirvieran como base.

After laying the first bases of color for the skin and having applied a little volume with the airbrush the following was the creation of the eyes of the character, for Landorsson I chose to apply orange tones that lately I have liked to use in my works, I painted small circles and then with smaller brushes I detailed much better this section, besides using layer modes to achieve a little volume and realism. For the clothing I decided to create a kind of rudimentary and antique costume with leather on the lower part and over this I used pastel colors to create a kind of nightgown or tunic with long sleeves.

Luego de sentar las primeras bases de color para la piel y habiendo aplicado un poco de volumen con el pincel aerógrafo lo siguiente fue la creación de los ojos del personaje, para Landorsson opté por aplicar tonos naranjas que últimamente me ha gustado mucho usar en mis obras, fui pintado pequeños círculos y luego con pinceles más pequeños detalle mucho mejor este apartado, además de utilizar modos de capa para lograr un poco de volumen y realismo. Para la vestimenta me anime a crear una especie de traje algo rudimentario y antiguo con cuero en la parte baja y sobre este use colores pasteles para crear una especie de camisón o túnica de mangas largas.

Next in the process of my work was the creation of the hair for the character, in this case I decided from the beginning to leave Landorsson bald, but with a long and prominent beard, I used a shade of orange similar to that of the eyes to create the beard, first I decided to use a watercolor brush to create a softer appearance of hair and then with a special brush with several tips I created the strands of hair to achieve a good relief in the beard. Finishing with the beard I immediately created a new layer and started with the painting of the sword of our warrior, first I used several shades of gray to get a metallic look and then with layer effects to get that look of steel on the blade of the sword.

Lo siguiente en el proceso de mi obra fue la creación del cabello para el personaje, en este caso decidí desde un principio deja a Landorsson calvo, pero con una larga y prominente barba, usé un tono de naranja parecido al de los ojos para crear la barba, primero decidí emplear un pincel acuarela para ir creando una apariencia más suave de cabello y luego con un pincel especial de varias puntas fui creando los mechones de cabello para lograr un buen relieve en la barba. Finalizando con la barba inmediatamente cree una nueva capa y comencé con el pintado de la espada de nuestro guerrero, primero use varios tonos de gris para conseguir una apariencia metálica y luego con efectos de capa conseguir esa apariencia de acero en la hoja de la espada.

Finally I focused a little on creating a good scenery for this work, it came to my mind to create a kind of small crater of mountains where Landorsson always practices with his sword, as these huge rocks allow him to test the almost eternal edge of his old sword. First I applied 2 base colors for the background that would be the sky and the rocks, and then I was giving a little volume to the rocks and then a little relief to make them look a little better; and finally a couple more layers in special mode complemented and gave a good final result to my work.

Ya por ultimo me centre un poco en crear un buen escenario para esta obra, se me vino a la mente crear una especie de pequeño cráter de montañas donde Landorsson practica siempre con su espada, ya que estas enormes rocas le permiten probar el filo casi eterno de su antigua espada. Primero fue aplicando 2 colores base para el fondo que serían el cielo y las rocas, y luego fui dándole un poco de volumen a las rocas y posteriormente un poco de relieve para hacerlas ver un poco mejor; ya por ultimo un par de capas más en modo especial complementaron y dieron un buen resultado final a mi obra.
