Jolly, The Last Gift of the Year

Good evening my people, happy Friday to all of you and I hope you are doing great in what would be this last week of the year 2022, I take advantage that we are still in these dates to share with you what would be my 2nd work about Christmas; a week ago I shared with you a drawing about (Santa Claus) with a sack full of gifts to deliver on Christmas Eve, today is about an elf girl who helps Santa to prepare the gifts for the children who have behaved very well during the year. My idea was to share this drawing before the Santa one, but I had difficulties with my pc, I lost the original file and I had to redo it all over again; but well, I hope you like it a lot and without further ado I leave you the process and I hope you like it:

Buenas noches mi gente, feliz viernes para todos y ojala se encuentre super bien en lo que sería esta última semana del año 2022, aprovecho que todavía estamos en estas fechas decembrinas para compartirles lo que seria mi 2da obra sobre navidad; hace una semana atrás les compartir un dibujo sobre (Santa Claus) con una saco lleno de regalos para entregar en noche buena, la de hoy se trata de una chica elfa la cual ayuda a Santa a preparar los regalos para los niños y niñas que se han portado muy bien durante el año. Mi idea era la de compartirles este dibujo antes de el de santa, pero tuve dificultades con mi pc, perdí el archivo original y tuve que rehacerla toda de nuevo; pero bueno, espero les guste mucho y sin más les dejo el proceso y espero les guste:

PROCESS / PROCESO

The main idea for my drawing was to make an elf preparing or delivering a box with a Christmas gift, I was working for a while to get a good sketch until I could make this one in which you can appreciate my elf (Jolly) as I decided to call her, with a great gift in her hands; once I finished with the sketch and its outline was there where I could move fully to the application of colors. For the skin I used a pretty saturated peach tone; then for the outfit I used a green tone that luckily I had saved in my color palette and I think it's a pretty christmasy green; and for the hair I went a bit towards blonde tones and used a soft medium mustard yellow.

La idea principal para mi dibujo era la de hacer una elfa preparando o entregando una caja con un regalo de navidad, estuve trabajando un buen rato para lograr un buen boceto hasta que pude hacer este en el cual podrán apreciar a mi elfa (Jolly) como decidí llamarla, con un gran regalo en sus manos; una vez terminé con el boceto y su delineado fue allí donde pude pasar totalmente a la aplicación de los colores. Para la piel use un tono durazno bastante saturado; luego para el traje use un tono verde que por suerte tenía guardado en mi paleta de colores y me parece que es un verde bastante navideño; y para el cabello me fui un poco hacia los tonos rubios y use un amarillo medio mostaza suave.

I was first of all detailing the skin of the elf Jolly with great care, I made very soft strokes with the watercolor brush, which at the same time mixes the strokes with other colors that I have nearby; then I was only establishing shadows of depth and occlusion with gradually darker tones. For the eyes of this character I decided to take advantage that I chose a blond for the hair and I painted them in a sky blue that I thought would complement them very well, then I detailed little by little the iris with a very fine and precise brush; by the end of this section I only dedicated myself to create the natural volume of the eye with some shadows and also some light glitters and sparkles.

Fui primero que nada detallando la piel de la elfa Jolly con muchísimo cuidado, realice trazos muy suaves con el pincel acuarela, el cual al mismo tiempo mezcla los trazos con otros colores que tenga cerca; después solo fui estableciendo sombras de profundidad y de oclusión con tonos poco a poco mas oscuros. Para los ojos de este personaje decidí aprovechar que elegí un rubio para el pelo y los pinté de un azul cielo que me pareció se complementarían muy bien, luego detalle poco a poco el iris con un pincel muy fino y preciso; ya para el final de este apartado solo me dedique a crear el volumen natural del ojo con algunas sombras y también algunos brillos y destellos leves.

The next step was the construction and painting of the Christmas costume of the Elf, for this I had the firm idea of creating a long dress starting from the green I had in my color palette, the only thing I had to do was to create the shape and texture of this dress; for this I worked a lot with the watercolor brush making short and thin strokes to make some slight wrinkles in the dress to give it more realism. After the dress I continued with the Christmas hat, I used many red tones to do something similar to the dress; then I dedicated myself to create the fluffy part of the hat, for this I used a brush with bristle tip very similar to the animal fur with a not so intense white tone and from there I was scaling up.

El paso siguiente fue el de la construcción y el pintado del traje navideño de la Elfa, para esto tenia la firme idea de crear un largo vestido partiendo del verde que tenia en mi paleta de colores, lo único que tenia que hacer era crear la forma y la textura de este vestido; para ello trabaje mucho con el pincel acuarela realizando trazos cortos y delgados para hacer algunas ligeras arrugas en el vestido que le dieran mas realismo. Después del vestido continue con el gorro navideño, use muchos tonos rojos para hacer algo similar que con el vestido; después me dedique a crear la parte afelpada o esponjosa del gorro, para esto use un pincel con punta de cerdas muy similar al pelaje animal con un tono blanco no tan intenso y de allí fui escalando.

The last part of my drawing was to paint the Christmas gift, for this I first created the basic shape of the box and then with the help of the lasso tool I was creating more precise lines with which I was giving realism and shape to the box; then with a thinner brush in a new layer I was painting the strips that would wrap the gift, and also the final bow. As an additional touch and to complement my drawing I decided to paint a mountain of gifts on the back, which would also be distributed at Christmas time.

La ultima parte de mi dibujo fue en la que me dedique a realizar el pintado del regalo navideño, para esto primero cree la forma básica de la caja y luego con ayuda de la herramienta lazo fui creando líneas mas precisas con las cuales fui dándole realismo y forma a la caja; después con un pincel mas delgado en una nueva capa fui pintando las tiras que envolverían el regalo, y también el lazo final. Como toque adicional y para complementar mi dibujo decidí pintar una montaña de regalos en la parte de atrás, los cuales también seria repartidos en esta época navideña.
