Fan-Art, In Search of the Dragon Balls.
As you are dear art lovers and especially the world of anime, today I want to show you a small Fan-Art about Dragon Ball Z and in this case it is about Bulma; the truth was a long time wanting to do it because in my opinion I find it very easy to create female characters and Bulma is undoubtedly one of the most iconic of the entire Dragon Ball franchise. This time I decided to create an illustration in my own style about Bulma on the planet Namekusei (Namek) but in a semi-realistic way; I love the result and I want to share it as soon as possible and I hope you like it:
Como están queridos amantes del arte y sobretodo del mundo del anime, el día de hoy les quiero mostrar un pequeño Fan-Art sobre Dragon Ball Z y en este caso se trata de Bulma; la verdad tenía mucho tiempo queriendo realizarla pues a mi parecer se me facilitan mucho la creación de los personajes femeninos y Bulma sin lugar a dudas es uno de los más icónicos de toda la franquicia de Dragon Ball. En esta ocasión decidí crear una ilustración a mi estilo propio sobre Bulma en el planeta Namekusei (Namek) pero de una forma semi-realista; me encanto mucho el resultado y se las quiero compartir cuanto antes y ojalá les guste:
PROCESS / PROCESO
I have always been a fan of this great anime franchise and as you know I already have some experience creating characters of it as at the time I drew Android # 18, so I have a clear idea of how to create the sketches to work on them and in this case I just concentrate on creating a somewhat youthful woman with short hair and rounded shoulders.
Siempre he sido fan de esta gran franquicia de anime y como sabrán ya tengo algo de experiencia creando personajes de ella como en su momento dibuje al Androide #18, por lo cual tengo una idea clara de cómo crear los bocetos para trabajar en ellos y en este caso solo me concentre en crear a una mujer un tanto juvenil con cabello corto y redondeado en los hombros.
The application of the colors was not so complex and I focused on using colors from my own color palette to give a more personalized touch, in this case I started with pink colors to build a much softer, stylized and above all feminine skin. For details of the face I stuck a little to those of Bulma's character, but with a very intense blue along with bright tones and added a little color to the lips for a more realistic touch and in this case the pink colors seemed appropriate.
La aplicación de los colores no fue tan compleja y me enfoqué en utilizar colores de mi paleta de colores propia para darle un toque más personalizado, en este caso comencé con colores rosados para ir construyendo una piel mucho más suave, estilizada y sobretodo femenina. Para detalles del rostro me apegue un poco a los del personaje de Bulma, pero con un azul muy intenso junto con tonos brillantes y agregue un poco de color a los labios para un toque más realista y en este caso los colores rosados me parecieron adecuados.
The next step in the painting process was to create Bulma's costume, ever since I was a kid I thought this costume looked pretty cool being a space travel costume and I finally got the chance to illustrate it. I started with a navy blue tone for the lower part of the suit that covers the character's arms and then in a new layer I painted the upper part of the suit with a mustard yellow that I normally use to paint hair on my different characters; this was an arduous process as I wanted to achieve the highest level of detail possible on the suit and above all for it to look very cool.
El siguiente paso en el proceso de pintado fue el de la creación del traje de Bulma, desde niño me pareció que este traje se veía bastante genial al ser un traje de viajes en el espacio y finalmente tuve la oportunidad de ilustrarlo. Comencé con un tono azul marino para la parte baja del traje que cubre los brazos del personaje y luego en una capa nuevo pinté la parte la parte superior del traje con un amarillo mostaza que normalmente utilizo para pintar cabello en mis diferentes personajes; este fue un proceso arduo pues quise lograr el mayor nivel de detalle posible en el traje y sobretodo que se viera muy cool.
For the hair I decided to create a very shiny hair quite similar to Bulma's on the planet Nakek, but I had to edit a lot the light blue tones to get a slightly different color to print my personal touch to this drawing; once I managed to create a good base for the hair and the strands of hair were much easier to achieve with the watercolor brush in a reduced size. The next thing I did after finishing with the hair was to create the Dragon's radar with which the characters look for the Dragon Spheres; the gray tones together with the bluish whites helped me to give a quite realistic look to the radar.
Para el pelo decidí crear un pelo muy brillante bastante similar al de Bulma en el planeta Nakek, pero tuve que editar mucho los tonos de azul celestes para conseguir un color ligeramente diferente para imprimir mi toque personal a este dibujo; una vez logre crear una buena base para el cabello ya los mechones de pelo fueron mucho más fáciles de lograr con el pincel acuarela en un tamaño reducido. Lo siguiente que hice luego de terminar con el pelo fue crear el radar del Dragón con el que los personajes buscan las Esferas del Dragón; los tonos grises junto con los blancos azulados me sirvieron para darle una apariencia bastante realista al radar.
Finally, and to give some additional context to the planet of Namekusei (Namek) I created a sort of open scenery with rocks, bluish mountains and a super super super green sky with several lighter colored clouds floating around the sky.
Finalmente, y para darle un poco de contexto adicional al planeta de Namekusei (Namek) cree una especie de escenario abierto con rocas, montañas azuladas y un cielo súper súper verde con varias nubes de color más claro flotando alrededor del cielo.
