No creo ser la única mamá a la que le ha pasado esto: vacaciones escolares, tardes de lluvia, un poco de gripe y la frase más popular "mamá estoy aburrida".

I don't think I'm the only mom this has happened to: school vacations, rainy afternoons, a little flu and the most popular phrase "mom I'm bored".

En estas vacaciones escolares no hemos podido hacer mucho porque ha llovido prácticamente todos los días, todos en casa hemos pasado por la gripe y nos estamos recuperando. Marcela y Miranda siempre tienen algo que jugar, gracias a Dios tienen algunos juguetes y saben compartir y pasar el tiempo. Aún así, la palabra "aburrida" la tienen bastante pegada. Saque de entre mis cosas dos hojas blancas, pintura, marcador, pega blanca y se me ocurrió agregar unos granos.

During these school holidays we have not been able to do much because it has rained practically every day, everyone at home has had the flu and we are recovering. Marcela and Miranda always have something to play with, thank God they have some toys and they know how to share and pass the time. Still, the word "boring" is quite stuck. I took out from my things two white sheets, paint, marker, white glue and it occurred to me to add some grains.

La idea es que las niñas usen su tiempo para algo más que revolver su habitación patas arriba. Entonces se me ocurrió darles todo esto y aprovechar para ver qué podían hacer. Marcela quiso que le pintara una playa con barco y Miranda una flor. Menos mal obtuve su atención y se quedaron conmigo intrigadas por la actividad y se olvidaron de sus otros juguetes esa tarde.

The idea is that girls use their time for more than just turning their room upside down. So it occurred to me to give them all this and take the opportunity to see what they could do. Marcela wanted me to paint a beach with a boat and Miranda a flower. Luckily I got their attention and they stayed with me intrigued by the activity and forgot about their other toys that afternoon.

Les puse pega blanca en algunos bordes para que fueran pegando los granos uno a uno, cultivando su paciencia 😂 También pueden funcionar las caraotas o el maíz, usamos lo que tenemos en casa. Otra opción puede ser usar papel para que ellas hagan bolitas con sus dedos y luego los peguen como quieran. No tienes que ser una super mamá artista para que ésta actividad sea bonita y divertida, creo que lo más importante es que te conectes con tu hij@ y puedan crear momentos y recuerdos agradables. Además, es un plus para aumentar su creatividad y su habilidad para las actividades con sus manitos.

I put white glue on some of the edges so that they could stick the grains one by one, cultivating their patience 😂 Beans or corn can also work, we use what we have at home. Another option can be to use paper for them to make little balls with their fingers and then glue them however they want. You don't have to be a super artist mom for this activity to be beautiful and fun, I think the most important thing is that you connect with your child and create pleasant moments and memories. In addition, it is a plus to increase their creativity and their ability to do activities with their little hands.

Marcela decidió que los granos serían la arena de su playa. Miranda quiso que los granos fueran el centro de su flor y parte del césped. Y si no hay pinceles no pasa nada, las niñas usaron sus deditos para pintar, también usaron los colores que quisieron y que teníamos, y me encantó que no pelearon, no sé disgustaron por los materiales que no teníamos, no se quejaron de usar las manos o de que tardaríamos mucho tiempo. Entonces esto de hacer cosas nuevas y diferentes es muy chévere, es divertido y es gratificante verlas sorprendidas descubriendo como usar sus manos sin muchas reglas.

Marcela decided that the grains would be the sand on her beach. Miranda wanted the grains to be the center of her flower and part of the lawn. And if there are no brushes, nothing happens, the girls used their little fingers to paint, they also used the colors they wanted and that we had, and I loved that they didn't fight, I don't know they were upset about the materials we didn't have, they didn't complain about using the hands or it would take a long time. So this thing of doing new and different things is very cool, it's fun and it's gratifying to see them surprised discovering how to use their hands without many rules.

Nos les miento, se encendieron todas las alarmas cuando ambas estaban usando las pinturas y metiendo los dedos muy rápido, cambiando de idea y con ganas de pintar hasta las paredes. Pero les insistí para que no dañaran sus trabajos y poder enseñarlos a papá cuando regrese de trabajar así que poco a poco se fueron calmando y haciendo las cosas más despacio. Se tomaron su tiempo para pintar cada espacio, mientras tanto hablaban de lo que les gustaba pintar, o hacer en la escuela. Por un rato me sentí ignorada jajaja, ellas estaban como dos amigas tomando el té.

I lie to you, all the alarms went off when both were using the paints and putting their fingers in very quickly, changing their minds and wanting to paint even the walls. But I insisted that they not damage their work and be able to show it to dad when he got back from work, so little by little they calmed down and did things more slowly. They took their time to paint each space, meanwhile they talked about what they liked to paint, or to do at school. For a while I felt ignored hahaha, they were like two friends having tea.

Sus obras de arte estuvieron listas en un buen rato, pasamos toda la tarde creando éstas bellezas. No fue una actividad muy programa ni muy costosa, fue muy espontánea y salió de maravilla así que me ha hecho pensar en todas las actividades que podemos hacer en casa con nuestros tesoros durante este periodo vacacional. Por los momentos sigo buscando una actividad para ellas durante éstas vacaciones, ya sea un deporte o o alguna academia de baile, pero mientras estemos en casa tengo que aprovechar el tiempo y ésta actividad es muy sencilla para que hagamos en familia.

His works of art were ready in no time, we spent the whole afternoon creating these beauties. It was not a very scheduled or expensive activity, it was very spontaneous and it went wonderfully so it made me think about all the activities we can do at home with our treasures during this vacation period. At the moment I am still looking for an activity for them during these holidays, whether it is a sport or a dance academy, but while we are at home I have to take advantage of the time and this activity is very simple for us to do as a family.

Mi idea es que ellas puedan verme no solo como mamá la figura de autoridad, sino como mamá la amiga, con la que podemos hacer cosas divertidas, inventar, reír y crear. También quiero que puedan verme como una mamá con la que pueden hacer algo de desorden, no tan estricta y dispuesta a hacer cosas nuevas. Les prometo contarles de otras cosas que tengo en mente para decirle NO a las tardes aburridas, o por lo menos para que lo intenten. My idea is that they can see me not only as a mom, the authority figure, but as a mom, the friend, with whom we can do fun things, invent, laugh and create. I also want them to see me as a mom they can mess with, not so strict and willing to do new things.
