As many of you know, I have two completely different YouTube channels: one focuses on history, literature, and trivia, while the other is dedicated to Harry Potter—covering everything related to my favorite saga. I create videos featuring my opinions and fun facts about the books, movies, and characters, and I generally try to be as original as possible; to achieve this, I research what the major Harry Potter channels are doing so I can discuss topics they’ve barely touched upon or haven't mentioned at all. I also rely on sources like Wizarding World (the official Harry Potter site) and interviews with J.K. Rowling (the author) to provide accurate, canonical information. That’s my way of keeping the magic alive—hehe—though the fandom has certainly seen a resurgence lately thanks to all the buzz surrounding the HBO series (which I won't even get into, given how disappointed I am by it).
Cómo muchos de ustedes saben, yo tengo dos canales de youtube completamente diferentes, uno está enfocado a la historia, la literatura y las curiosidades y en el otro el contenido está orientado a Harry Potter, todo lo que tiene que ver con mi saga favorita, tengo videos con mi opinión y datos curiosos sobre los libros, películas y personajes, y por lo general trato en la medida de lo posible de ser lo más original posible, para lo cuál hago una búsqueda en los principales canales sobre Harry Potter, para hablar de temas que casi no hayan tocado o que de plano ni siquiera mencionen, también me apoyo en páginas como Wizarding Word (sitio oficial de Harry Potter) para dar información verídica y canon en entrevistas de J.K Rowling (autora de los libros) Esa es mi manera de hacer que la magia no muera jeje aunque últimamente con todo ese asunto de la serie de HBO (de la cuál ni siquiera hablaré debido a lo decepcionada que estoy) se ha revivido bastante el fandom.
I’m not as consistent as I’d like to be, since balancing my work here on Hive with running two YouTube channels takes up a huge amount of time—what with researching, writing and revising scripts, recording (while navigating power outages), and editing the videos. Still, I try to upload something whenever possible—at least a "Short"—so between Shorts (videos lasting around a minute) and full-length videos, I have about three hundred videos and several playlists organized by topics such as Characters, History of Magic, Trivia, Magizoology, Movies, "What If..." scenarios, Wizarding World Crimes, and a new section I recently launched called "The Trial of..." I specifically want to talk about this new section because I decided to kick it off with a video about my favorite character, Severus Snape.
No soy tan constante como me gustaría ya que entre lo que hago aquí en Hive y llevar dos canales de youtube me toma mucho tiempo entre investigar, escribir los guiones, corregirlos, grabar (sorteando los cortes de energía eléctrica) y editar los videos, per procuro en la medida de lo posible siempre estar subiendo algo, al menos un short, así que entre shorts (videos de al rededor de un minuto) y videos largos tengo al rededor de trecientos videos y varias listas de reproducción con el contenido organizado en tópicos como: Personajes, Historia de la Magia, Curiosidades, Magizología, Películas, Que pasaría si... Crímenes del Mundo Mágico, y una nueva sección que inauguré recientemente que se llama El Juicio de.. y precisamente vengo a hablarles de esta sección porque yo decidí inaugurarla con un video sobre mi personaje favorito, Severus Snape.
As the name "The Trial of..." suggests, in this section I aim to put controversial characters on trial—figures who are complex and whose actions within the story can be open to question. Much like in a real trial, I take on two roles: prosecutor and defense attorney. First, I present evidence of guilt, highlighting actions that might be considered questionable; then, I offer evidence of their good deeds—actions and situations where the character acted for the benefit of others—leaving the final verdict up to the audience. I chose to kick things off with Severus Snape, not only because he is my favorite character but also because he is one of the most controversial figures, deeply dividing fandom opinion. I wanted to showcase both his worst and best sides so the audience could fairly evaluate whether or not he deserves leniency.
Como su nombre lo indica "El Juicio de.." en esta sección yo pretendo juzgar a personajes polémicos, personajes que son difíciles y cuyo proceder dentro de la trama puede llegar a ser cuestionable. Tal como si se tratara de un juicio real yo asumo dos roles: el de fiscal y luego de abogada defensora, presentando primero pruebas de culpabilidad y evidenciando todos esos actos que pudieran considerarse cuestionables, pero luego ofrezco pruebas de sus buenos actos, hechos y situaciones que el personaje en cuestión haya hecho para el bien de los demás, dejando el veredicto a juicio de la audiencia. En este caso quise inaugurar con Severus Snape n solo por ser mi personaje favorito sino porque precisamente es uno de los más polémicos, el que más divide las opiniones del fandom, así que quise mostrar su peor y mejor lado para que la audiencia pudiera evaluar de manera justa si merece o no la indulgencia.
In the video, alongside presenting evidence of both his culpability in questionable acts and his redemption, I offer my personal opinion to try to understand the roots of certain attitudes dating back to his childhood. My aim is to portray the person in all his complexity—viewed from various angles—so the audience can gain a deeper understanding of him; the goal is not to redefine the audience's existing perception, but simply to allow them to get to know him thoroughly and thus evaluate his actions more fairly.
En el video, además de presentar las pruebas tanto de su culpabilidad en actos cuestionables como de su redención, yo emito mi opinión personal para tratar de entender el origen de ciertas actitudes que datan de su niñez, Mi intención es la de mostrar al personaje con sus diversos matice desde diferentes ángulos para que la audiencia pueda entenderlo mucho mejor, no se trata de tratar de redefinir la idea que la audiencia ya tenga establecida con respecto a él, sino simplemente de que lo conozcan a profundidad y así puedan evaluar de una manera más justa su proceder.
