About the Quote

Things happen to us just one way, and that way is how they happen to us. We can't control that. This is especially true if what happens to us is negative or considered adversity.

However, how we handle that makes a world of difference. Do we let adversity beat us down until we hit the floor in the fetal position and cry for Mommy? Do we run away after we get punched in the mouth after we spent years talking smack about someone? Dow we stay on the floor after we get knocked down?

One thing we can do is just give up; another thing we can do is run away. If it makes sense to do these things, we do them. However, the proper response is for us to start over or to pick up where we left off, or to stop running away and face our opponent.

Lou Holtz, one of the greatest college football coaches in American history, make the aboe quote. However, the best personification of this quote is a fictional character: Rocky Balboa. His response is to "keep moving forward, because that is how winning is done!"
