“Y ambas lavan la cara”, inició con este dicho uno de los favoritos de mi padre, hombre de buen corazón y que compartía el pan con todas las personas que entraban a su casa. Mami, para echarle broma le decía: “Un día de estos me vas a regalar, papi”. Pero era por hablar porque ella era igualita a él. En la mesa de mi hogar siempre había un plato de comida por si acaso llegaba un primo hermano. Aunque no lo crean, de que llegaban, sí era cierto que aparecían.

A la una de la tarde llegaba el ferry y la lancha de Margarita, y papi trabajaba cargando pasajeros en esta terminal y en el terrestre. Generalmente, venían amigos y familiares de viaje a hacer alguna diligencia y se quedaban en casa mientras solucionaban. El día que mi papi falleció, la calle tuvo que ser cerrada porque había mucha gente. Ese día entendí que todos tenemos una misión y mi papi fue paño de lágrimas y ayuda para muchas personas que necesitaron de él.

Era un ser humano humilde, pero con un corazón grandotote. “Mi superhéroe”. Se fue muy joven, con tan solo 54 años, joven y con una vida por delante. Despierto cada mañana y mis primeros pensamientos son de agradecimiento por el regalo que se me otorgó: mis padres y mi familia. Al igual que como fueron mis padres, hay muchas personas en el planeta que ayudan al prójimo.

Héroes anónimos, que colaboran, cooperan y prestan ayuda a quien más lo necesita. Algunas veces creen que no tienen valor y, en un momento dado, ante cualquier hecho, sacan lo que tienen dentro y descubren la fortaleza necesaria para sobrevivir y ayudar a otras personas. Son capaces de moverse y liderar equipos de salvamento. Sin pedir nada a cambio ni hacer alardes de lo que hacen. En fin, encuentran el verdadero sentido de sus vidas.

Esto, amigos de #EmpowerTalent, es un héroe anónimo que no busca agradecimientos, pues da todo sin pedir nada a cambio. Según la página quillbot.com:

At one o’clock in the afternoon, the ferry and the boat from Margarita would arrive, and Dad worked loading passengers at this terminal and at the bus station. Usually, friends and family members would come on a trip to run some errands and stay at our house while they took care of things. The day my dad passed away, the street had to be closed because there were so many people. That day I understood that we all have a mission, and my dad was a source of comfort and help for many people who needed him.
He was a humble person, but with a huge heart. “My superhero.” He passed away too young—at just 54—still young and with his whole life ahead of him. I wake up every morning, and my first thoughts are of gratitude for the gift I’ve been given: my parents and my family. Just like my parents were, there are many people on this planet who help others.
Anonymous heroes who collaborate, cooperate, and lend a hand to those who need it most. Sometimes they think they’re not brave enough, but in a moment of crisis, they draw on their inner strength and find the resilience needed to survive and help others. They’re capable of taking action and leading rescue teams—without asking for anything in return or boasting about what they do. In short, they find the true meaning of their lives.

Solidarity goes far beyond the physical realm; it also encompasses the spiritual world, and sometimes we don’t realize just how important a hug, a smile, a kind word, a “good morning,” “good afternoon,” or “good night,” a pat on the back, a handshake, a prayer, or a hug can be for a person going through a rough patch, a broken heart, or any other situation that affects their soul, their heart, their balance, and their well-being.

Tiempos oscuros se avecinan

En el camino que recorremos, a veces nos vamos de “trompa” y nos damos golpes muy fuertes. Y es casi imposible levantarnos; en un parpadeo de los ojos quedamos sin nada. Estas caídas son tremendas, y se tiene que culpar a Dios por ello. Desde mi punto de vista, todos tenemos la hora de llegada y salida de este planeta y, como dicen por ahí: “ni que te pongas ni que te quites”. No se trata de evitar los golpes, sino de aprender a levantarnos y que esto sirva de aprendizaje y crecimiento.

Son tiempos turbulentos donde algunas personas tratan de obtener ganancias. Pero todos no son así; hay gente buena dando todo de sí para ayudar a otros a salir del terror que están viviendo. En estos momentos difíciles es necesario mirar hacia dentro, izar la vela, mirar al horizonte y continuar el viaje. Si se requiere cambiar el rumbo, se hace con valentía. Si hay que subir a otras personas al bote, se hace. Pues, nadie se debe quedar sin ayuda en el camino.

Mi país está atravesando grandes retos, el de reconstruirse después de una catástrofe. Esto ha quebrado el yo interior de los venezolanos, por la pérdida de seres queridos: familiares y amigos, vecinos, mascotas, entre otros. Ha tocado las fibras de todos los que estamos en el país y los que están fuera. La luz de todos nosotros está puesta para que las almas que partieron encuentren su descanso eterno, y para que todos los sobrevivientes vuelvan con sus familias y puedan reconstruir sus vidas.

Sé que no es fácil; decir otra cosa sería mentir a los demás y a mí misma. Ahora es que nos toca levantarnos como comunidad y sociedad; los venezolanos hemos demostrado de qué estamos hechos. Hay que apoyarnos los unos a los otros, trabajar en equipo y juntos echarle pichón por una “nueva Venezuela”. Cualquier cosa que se haga para aportar un granito de arena.

Todos tenemos habilidades, con lo cual se puede dar a otros y ayudar a los que hoy no tienen nada. Si es panadero, carpintero, albañil, plomero, cualquier actividad que realice. Haga algo y dónelo para la causa de reconstruir una comunidad. Si no puede, al menos participe en las actividades que se planifiquen en pro de los seres humanos que hoy necesitan su apoyo.

Dark times are ahead
On the path we’re traveling, we sometimes lose our footing and take some very hard falls. And it’s almost impossible to get back up; in the blink of an eye, we’re left with nothing. These falls are devastating, and God must be blamed for them. From my perspective, we all have a set time to arrive on and depart from this planet, and as they say, “There’s nothing you can do about it.” It’s not about avoiding the blows, but about learning to get back up and letting this serve as a lesson and an opportunity for growth.
These are turbulent times in which some people try to profit. But not everyone is like that; there are good people giving their all to help others escape the terror they’re experiencing. In these difficult times, we need to look inward, hoist the sail, gaze at the horizon, and continue the journey. If we need to change course, we do so with courage. If we need to take others aboard the boat, we do it. After all, no one should be left without help along the way.
My country is facing enormous challenges as it works to rebuild itself after a catastrophe. This has shattered the inner being of Venezuelans due to the loss of loved ones: family members, friends, neighbors, pets, and others. It has touched the hearts of all of us—both those of us in the country and those abroad. We are all praying that the souls who have departed may find eternal rest, and that all survivors may return to their families and rebuild their lives.
I know it’s not easy; to say otherwise would be to lie to others and to myself. Now is the time for us to rise up as a community and a society; we Venezuelans have shown what we’re made of. We must support one another, work as a team, and together give it our all for a “new Venezuela.” Anything we do counts as doing our part.
We all have skills we can use to give to others and help those who have nothing right now. Whether you’re a baker, carpenter, mason, plumber, or whatever you do—do something and contribute it to the cause of rebuilding a community. If you can’t, at least take part in the activities being organized to help the people who need your support right now.

Cuando la luz de nuestro interior se apague, no nos vamos a llevar nada y mucho menos bienes materiales. Lo único será lo que somos y lo que hicimos en este planeta. Dejaremos una huella, pues quedarás en la memoria de los que tuvieron oportunidad de compartir contigo y ser parte de tu vida. Creo que es bonito que nos recuerden con cariño y amor.

Seamos solidarios y empáticos con el mundo que nos rodea: personas, naturaleza y animalitos que no tienen voz y no pueden defenderse. Hoy, Venezuela llora por sus hijos que se fueron del plano físico y también por los que se quedaron sin nada. Ellos necesitan de una mano amiga y de ayuda.

El mundo virtual y nuestra casa #Hive también fue afectada con esta tragedia, pues todos los venezolanos nos sentimos afectados aun cuando directamente algunos usuarios no están ubicados en el lugar de los hechos, pero nuestros corazones laten al unísono con los habitantes de las zonas y poblaciones por donde pasaron las ondas sísmicas. Aunque no lo crean, estas zonas quedaron devastadas y se requiere ayuda.
