The Buzz of Life
A story about some coffee I made this week
About late January I was exploring Vietnamese coffee and these past few weeks I’ve been trying to recreate many of my pandemic recipes from dalgona to matcha presso. I began to explore ways to extract espresso-like using phin filters and I have to say, I sort of get it. I went against the rule that the powder has to be medium coarse and I ended up using a very fine powder but using heaps of coffee powder to create espresso like liquid that’s perfect for lattes. But there are days lately when I am lazy and I found a place where I can order single shot and double shot espresso.
These places help me a lot because I can save on money while still drinking amazing cafe-grade coffee. In this post, I’ll show you all the coffee I had and new places I found that have amazing coffee.
Matcha presso!
Matcha and espresso make a great combination. They’re amazing and I will always love them not only for the taste but the placebo effects it has on me. To make this matchapresso is actually pretty straight-forward. All you need is matcha and espresso. Though I like the hot version, overtime, the iced version of this has grown on me. At Starbucks they sell this under matcha fusion or matcha presso. Unfortunately, it’s just not available on the delivery app so, you’d have to go to the place to drink it.
When I make it at home, the only difference that you see below is the amount of caffeine, the darker one is the one with triple shot espresso and the lightest is only using a single-shot espresso.
The reason why I don’t order it directly from the place is because they don’t taste the way I like it. That’s why, I would rather make it my own, know all the sugar that gets into my drink and it’ll taste just the way I like it. I don’t think it’s for anyone as it has a slightly bitter taste to it and is almost pill-like. But if you like something bitter, it’s probably for you.
Cold Brew With Caramel fom Esemu
If I showed you how to elevate americano a few weeks ago, this one would be the same. I found a cafe called Esemu and they sell selections of cold brew with different syrups from rose to caramel. They are quite fizzy so if you don’t like fizzy coffee, it certainly might not be for you.
I paired the drink with banana cake because today my mom and I were baking it. I also tried the Esemu hazelnut latte and they taste quite right.
In fact, I have to see the place and check it out because they have some decent selection of western menu and some mocktail and cold brew selections. My mom ordered chocolate hazelnut and she said it’s really good. It’s got her approval and that means the place is good. So, we’re planning to check out the place in the coming weeks. There are many new cafe in my hometown popping up and the old ones closing down. It’s sad to see my favorite places no longer operate but it seems like the new ones are pretty decent and it’s worth checking out. In one of these days, I’ll be back doing my cafe reviews again!

All of these coffees looks good :D
I know you are a big coffee lover, so what are your thoughts on Coffee with mushrooms add to it?
I am thinking about buying some to try it out :D
They are pretty good and my favorite is product from four sigmatic. Where I am from the ground coffee is a bit pricey but I like to buy the small packets, the instant ones like this https://us.foursigmatic.com/products/mushroom-coffee-with-lions-mane-chaga.
I am not sure if this product is available where you at but if it does, try it out!

I had honestly forgot all about Four Sigmatic xD
I do need a instant package, but FS is cheaper than Spacegoods xD
I was looking at a company called Spacegoods :D
Everything looks most interesting and the fizzy coffee sounds novel and fun 🤩
Your banana cake looks scrumptious.
Yep! fizzy coffee is actually pretty new and when you can, you should try it!
The photos are making me salivate! I'm surprised at the light colour of the banana cake, but it looks totally delicious 😋
😄 were they supposed to be brown-ish? my mom actually overbaked them because she was sewing and I was on my laptop. 😌 It was such a treat, eating them with coffee!
Haha! Yeah, like this one that my mum baked last night:)
oh wow! didn't know that 😁. My mom added egg and some milk to it, could be why they are lighter in color.
Ah, yes. The milk probably 😁
I'm sure that yours is just as nice:)))
Machapresso! I like it 😁 Can’t remember last time I prepared myself a proper macha 🙈
You should do that by the way and try my matchapresso recipe 😆
But I’m so lazy 😂😂😂
Wow, looks good. I used to be really into coffee and knew all the best ways to make it and so on. These days I don't mess with it much, I just use my aeropress and drink the somewhat strong cup that can give. Cheap and easy, y'know.
I heard about aeropress and wanting to have it; maybe one of these days. It's @litguru who told me about it and making me want to have one!
It's pretty nice! Easy and strong. Strong enough that many aeropress users then add in hot water making it something of an coffee Americano.
Damn the coffee here looks delicious! I haven’t had much coffee lately, trying to detox myself from drinking too much heavy cream in my coffee hahaha my body wasn’t reacting well to it sadly so I had to cut it back and stopped drinking coffee for a few weeks. I’m going to have a nice cup tomorrow though, it’s going to be a busy day. I might try the matcha one! We’ve got a few bags of matcha here, would be nice to give that one a whirl. I know what you mean with making it your own, I prefer it that way! I usually drink mine with no sugar and a little dairy.
I also stopped by to say that I, unwillingly, had to do biphasic sleep this weekend and it was brutal! My body hated it lol but when I thought back on it, I knew I wanted to let you know! Lol
I am planning to lessen my coffee intake to fix my sleep too. Biphasic sleep can be brutal 😅 hopefully you get back to full sleep again!
Everything looks really delicious, how nice that in your hometown they are opening new coffee shops with so many varieties even though the places you used to frequent are closing, well nothing lasts forever. The good thing is that you have excellent options and the most important, enjoy from home, for me it is always one of the best options.
For sure! It's really nice to always have options to drink at home when I am not going to cafe.
I think that's cocacola? haha well I once tried to make coffee with gas, but with baking soda and some lemon but it tasted really bad, but the idea of trying something like that is not going away, thanks for sharing your weekend, by the way that banana cake looks irresistible :D
nooo that's not cocacola haha it's cold brew coffee with some syrups😁
