How A Child Showed Her Love For Me

Hello Hive Friends! This is my first time posting in this community. Let me share my experience a couple of months ago.

Isn't it cute and heartwarming for a little girl to always check on you when you're not feeling well? I could imagine a nurse performing her routine duties like taking vital signs or administering medicine to a patient. While going through my influenza, my nephew's 7-year-old daughter, Ami, kept on visiting me in my room to see how I was getting along. She wanted to go inside but I told her not, because I didn't want her to catch the virus. Since I don't normally close the door of my room, whether daytime or nighttime, she just stayed outside. After dinner, she handed me a note that was faintly written on scratch paper that said, "Get Well Soon". Below the note, she drew a face with curly hair and said it was me. I was deeply touched and blessed to be loved by this little girl.

Later during the night, while I was about to fall asleep, I was taken aback when suddenly, a cold stuff landed on my forehead. Guess what? It was Ami! Little did I know that she deliberately and discretely entered my room and placed a kool fever patch on my forehead. Seeing my reaction, she was shocked too and we both ended up giggling a lot!😅 Oh! how I wanted to hug her tightly to express my appreciation but instead of doing so, I told her to immediately go out for fear that she would get the virus too.

The following day, she went to my room again and gave me water and some biscuits. I'm sure no one told her to do it. I felt she wanted to say something. She asked me if I read her note already. This time, I wore a mask because she really wanted to talk to me. I said "yes" and expressed appreciation for her thoughtfulness. She explained that she wanted me to be well so she could always go to my room.😀 I told her the kool fever patch she placed on my forehead the previous night was for kids. She told me she couldn't find one for parents/adults and just used it anyway because it was cold. She saw the thermometer at my bedside and told me to get my temperature again before she left my room.

This is Ami's photo taken last March when we went swimming.

Certainly, Ami's note was indeed a "happy pill" and her thoughtfulness amazed me. I did not expect that at a young age, she would be so concerned that made her do those things. I needed that and I think anyone who was in such a situation does. Happy pills don't need to be anything fancy or expensive but they are the simple things that put us in a good mood, and make us feel better, loved, and happier. How I wish there were lots of "Amis" in the world.😍

With this experience, I have realized that young or old, we find ways to show our love for our family or those around us. Yes, we may learn what to do in certain situations from school or from other's example but it is still the desire of our hearts that prompt us to do them.

Thanks for reading. Until next time.

Take care!

lytha

Sweet Ami!
I have memories of my younger sister doing something similar when I wasn't feeling well. She once gave me tissue paper as a birthday present 😅 because she noticed I often had a cold. It's those little gestures that really warm our hearts 💖

Yes, Ami is such a loving child. During the pandemic, her Mom was always worried because she hugged some churchmates including those not close to her. Lol.

Yes, they are and I love those happy pills😍
Kids are so adorable with hearts so pure and not tarnished by harsh experiences or negativity. We can still find such genuine care and love in grown-ups if they don't allow the negativity to get in and take away such lovely innocence.

Yeah, the innocence of kids can soften our hearts, make us laugh, and sometimes cry for joy.
