From art for fun to art as a career

What do you do when you feel you need to take a step back and see how you can improve your project/plan/process/life or what needs to change in order to get the desired result?

What is your outlet of creativity? Where do you get your inspiration? Where do your ideas stem from?

What do you try to do differently in order to get closer to your goal? What motivates you to keep going when you feel down and see yourself stuck?

Do you take a day off to clear your mind? Do spend that day doing something totally unrelated to your project? Or you push yourself even harder, choosing to go out of your comfort zone by performing some new challenging tasks or activities?

Whenever I hit rock bottom or when I feel lost for one reason or another, I write or I paint. The ink, graphite and the acrylics have been my guiding tools, enabling me to assess my situation and reconnect with myself, achieve the inner balance.

Lately I dove into a full-time art career and to my surprise, I enjoyed working even on the weekends. It actually did not even feel like work! As far as I know, my day started at 8am with a canvas and some paint and ended late in the night. The hours flew by without me realizing it.
Thus I found myself absorbed into my work for long stretches of time, just like before becoming a Lymie.

Having gained my motivation to create daily helped me cope with my symptoms and it also increased my artworks inventory.

Although I experimented with abstract, conceptual and figurative, I couldn't make up my mind which one I liked more. All have their pros and cons. Actually more pros than cons.

The image above is in fact one of my latest acrylic abstract paintings, Colour Splash.
Yes, I know, not a very creative title for it. It's pretty straightforward. :0)

Is this something you'd hang on your wall?

Drop me line in the comments section below if you like it or any part of my rambling here made any sense to you.

Have a great day/ evening, wherever you are!

I'm really glad to see you, it's been a while.

I'm really happy that you've found an outlet which feels good and works for you. It really doesn't matter what I think of your art (I like the piece here, but I'm in no way qualified to critique anyone's art) but it's how you feel about it that is crucial.

Good to see you again!

Curated for #naturalmedicine by @drrune.

Such a simple yet wonderful post! I love that you start with all of those questions. So often do we lose perspective precisely because we don't ponder those things. Using art as a path of self-discovery is so satisfying, not only because it truly gives us profound insights and genuine enjoyment, but also because of the final product of our efforts, the artwork itself, a testament to our process and our progress. Great abundance to you!

Yay, it's good to see you back! 😀

Having an outlet is a really good thing. For me, my stress reliever has always been bike riding, or walking, which I could do for hours on end.

I do like that painting! I'm a big fan of abstract art.

Thank you! Bike rides are cool but only during summer. :0)
