An instant connection.
Let me take you way back to my University days in my 200 level.
There was an orientation which was held by a 300-level student of the same department, let's say he cares so much for the newbies and how they could enjoy their stay in the university.
It was held in an open field beside the Admin's office, I arrived late and couldn't hear what was being said, so I decided to stay quiet until the guy was done talking, being an inquisitive type, I raised my hands and that was how I was noticed by the dude. He promised to answer my question later.
After the orientation, he walked up to me and answered my question, "I don't know why, I just liked you when I saw you, this was just an opportunity to be closer to you, My name is Stanley, what's yours?"
"Gift, that's mine". I replied.
" Can I have your phone number, so that I can reach you later as I am having a class now", he asked.
"Okay," well, I knew if, for nothing, I would need him to put me through the whole teaching practice process as I have never taught before. So I gave him my number.
That day changed the whole thing, we met up later in the evening in an auditorium and chit-chatted like we have known each other for a very long time.
He became my school handbag, always tagging along with me whenever we weren't having classes, he made me stay ahead of my mates as he share past exam questions with me, explain courses that were so hard for me, and encouraged me to say focused, until the day of his signing out, he finally told me he wanted us to be more than friends, that from the very first day met me, he felt something deep which he hasn't felt for someone else.
I was dumbfounded because I loved him so much to ruin the friendship, I declined, and his guy went down on his knees on campus, just so I could accept his proposal, I felt some kind of way but respectfully declined, I gave him reasons, why I didn't want more than friendship.
He understood and never stopped caring about me even after he left school, when I wanted to write my project he came around to put me through until I signed out too.
I lost contact after I got married because I changed my phone, I have tried to reach out to him via his old number but it wasn't going through, but I know whenever we meet again we would still be good friends.
