Hiding an illness from family and friends for any length of time will catch up with you. After a while, others will notice something is amiss. I wonder how he navigated the treatments that undoubtedly weakens you where you require help in getting to and from appointments.
Even the physical and mental changes one endures with such a devastating illness can't be hidden forever. So sad that he didn't confide in anyone. No one should have to go through an illness alone. Support is always better.
Currently, I have a family member who relapsed. It's devastating for everyone involved. Support is key.
