Street And Lake Views From Tampere

I love the perspective correction tool of Darktable. You can make your smartphone photos including some in this set much better looking by removing perspective errors that can be quite horrid when shooting with a wide angle lens such as on a typical smart phone.

The light rail system is brand new. It has been under construction for the last five years and is finally completed.

The arena at the end of the street is a newly built congress center and an ice hockey arena. It's named after its main sponsor Nokia.

Those tower blocks on the left are on a deck built above the railway close to the railway station.

Orthodox Christianity is a very small minority religion. But it is old and Tampere is large enough to have a significant Orthodox minority.

A view to the north- The railway station is on the left. The ice hockey arena is right behind me.

I could not walk around the arena because a match was about to begin and I wasn't about to buy a ticket.

The ice hockey world championship tournament will be played here and in Helsinki unless we are turned into radioactive ash before May this year. It is likely that Russia won't be playing either way.

This is the main library of the city, also the regional main library. It is the shape of wood grouse when looked at from above. In fact, its name, Metso, means exactly that.

On to a different place.

Näsinneula observation tower (height 168 m, built in 1969) seen from Mustalahti harbour. The attractions are part of Näsinneula amusement park.

There is no dolphinarium any longer. It was the only one in the Nordic countries.

That hut near the lighthouse has a small cafeteria in it. I did not have time to walk there as it was about 1 km away.
