Hello friends of #Hive, for me it is a privilege to write and tell you about this achievement that we were finally able to achieve at home, glueing the ceramics from the living room to the dining room. A goal that had to be postponed from 2015 until this month of November this year, here I tell you why we had to wait so long.
Hola amigos de #Hive, para mí es un privilegio escribir y contarles acerca de este logro que al fin pudimos conseguir en casa, pegar las cerámicas desde la sala hasta el comedor. Un objetivo que se tuvo que posponer desde 2015 hasta este mes de noviembre del año en curso, acá les cuento porque tuvimos que esperar tanto.
This November we worked for a week gluing the ceramics, with two workers known to us, two elderly men with extensive experience doing this type of work, and also with the observation of my father, who also knows about the subject.
Este mes de noviembre se trabajó una semana pegando las cerámicas, con dos trabajadores conocidos por nosotros, dos señores mayores de edad con una amplia experiencia haciendo ese tipo de trabajos, además con la observación de mi papá, quién también sabe del tema.
Why did the ceramics last so long at home without being glued? // ¿Por qué las cerámicas duraron tanto tiempo en casa sin haberlas pegado?
It was 2015 when one of my older brothers (Alvaro Idrogo) decided to buy these tiles for the dining room and living room, since the kitchen and bathroom already had their tiles glued. The issue became complicated when we consulted the cost of gluing them and it was beyond my brother's budget, that's why it was postponed for a later date. As every Venezuelan knows and in many other countries, Venezuela suffers an economic crisis, unsustainable for the vast majority, it was even very difficult to afford the cost of food, to that point, that was why the ceramics lasted years in the dining room of the house without being glued.
Transcurría el año 2015 cuando uno de mis hermanos mayores (Álvaro Idrogo) decide comprar esas cerámicas para el comedor y la sala, ya que la cocina y el baño contaban con sus cerámicas ya pegadas. El tema se complica cuando consultamos el costo de hacer el trabajo de pegarlas y pasaba del presupuesto de mi hermano, fue por eso que se pospuso para más adelante. Cómo todo venezolano sabe y en muchos otros países, Venezuela sufre una crisis económica, insostenible para la gran mayoría, era hasta muy difícil costear los gastos de la comida, hasta ese punto, fue por eso que las cerámicas duraron años en el comedor de la casa sin ser pegadas.
With the economic situation improving, we decided to make the sacrifice of gluing the ceramics before the end of this year 2021, with the help of everyone at home. Thanks to #Hive I was able to collaborate with the purchase of some bags of glue and thus fulfill one of the objectives at home.
Ya con el tema económico mejorado decidimos hacer el sacrificio de pegar las cerámicas antes que acabara este año 2021, con la ayuda de todos en casa. Yo gracias a #Hive pude colaborar con la compra de algunos sacos de pego y así cumplir uno de los objetivos en casa.
The first thing we had to do a day before the work was to remove all the things that were both in the living room and in the dining room, furniture, tables, cabinet, pictures among others. The next day the workers arrived very early to start and my mind was asking many questions, if it is an area of the house where we walk constantly, either to go out to the street, enter the rooms, how to do not to step on the newly glued ceramics? That question was answered the same first day of work, since only one row of ceramic tiles was going to be glued and after 24 hours with the glue already dry they continued with the following rows, being able to step on that first row.
Lo primero que tuvimos que hacer un día antes de la obra fue quitar todas las cosas que se encontraban tanto en la sala como en el comedor, muebles, mesas, gabinete, cuadros entre otros. Al día siguiente llegaron los trabajadores muy temprano a comenzar y mi mente se hacía muchas preguntas, ¿Si es una zona de la casa donde caminamos constantemente, ya sea para salir a la calle, entrar a los cuartos, como hacer para no pisar las cerámicas recién pegadas? Esa pregunta fue respondida el mismo primer día de trabajo, ya que solo se iba pegar una sola fila de cerámica y luego de 24 horas ya con el pegó ya seco continuaron con las siguientes filas, ya pudiendo pisar esa primera fila.
A total of 461 kilograms of glue was used, divided into 10 and 13 kilogram sacks. An approximate cost of $60, plus the sealant. The workers charged us $100 plus the baseboard, which was an extra job that was not in our plans, but they recommended us and proposed to do it to complete a job well done.
Se usaron 461 kilos de pegó, divididos en sacos de 10 y 13 kilos. Un gasto aproximado de 60 dólares, además del sellador. Los trabajadores nos cobraron 100 dólares más el rodapié que fue un trabajo extra que no estaba en nuestros planes, pero nos recomendaron y se propusieron hacerlo para completar una obra bien hecha.
We ended up delighted with the final result and that led us to think that this December the goal was to buy the paint to highlight more the ceramics with well painted walls. These are goals that may seem small but they are goals and #Hive has been a great help for me.
Terminamos encantados con el resultado final y eso nos llevó a pensar que este diciembre el objetivo era comprar la pintura para resaltar más las cerámicas con unas paredes bien pintadas. Son objetivos que aunque parezcan pequeños son objetivos y #Hive a sido una gran ayuda para mí.
