The amazing journey of my sunflower seed.

Greetings garden lovers,

It's very hot weather right now here with us and my plants are withered due to extreme heat from the sun. But speaking on these sunny days finally I was able to harvest my only sunflower.

A little flashback from where I got this flowering plant started when I passed by the plant in a neighbourhood and was in love since I like sunflowers ever since because their flowers stayed a couple of days or weeks before they dry up and later produce a lot of seeds. So I ask some seeds from the owner and was rejected for the reason that the seeds are not ready yet and then she went away but I was so envious of her sunflowers so I took a few seeds out from the flower without her knowledge and took it home, I planted the seeds and they germinate but when I transferred them to the soil bed only one survives and after it blooms, I save its seeds so I can multiply them.

This is the only photo left from my past sunflower.

Truly I was able to save a couple of seeds from it and I place them on the side of my house to dry up but when the typhoon hit in December my house was destroyed and the seeds scattered and honestly I don't have the time to find them cause I've been busy with all the damage in the house. As the days go by while the crops are slowly recovering a few seeds started to sprout and I noticed some sunflowers and hope started but a little confusing since we rise a lot of chickens and my father feed the chickens with chickpeas including sunflower seeds and the sunflowers I save might have been eaten with chickens already so was undecided but then I try to save them. I plant the other one with other flowering plants and the other one was beside my tomatoes. And so I waited for them to flower.

Chick feeds it has a short branch and with smaller flowers.

The giant sunflower sometime gives a branch and a lot of flowers too.

Months after when they started to flower everything was confirmed the one I planted beside the other flowers was a chick feeds and the one beside my tomatoes is the giant sunflower I tried to save.

Imagine how a seed multiplies into 100x 😃. Now, I'm excited to plant them but I guess it's not the right time yet since it's still dry season and I don't want to waste the seeds so I'll just wait for the right time to sow them.

I'll update you as soon as I started sowing them 😉. Thank you for taking the time to read and if you have some additional knowledge on how to grow sunflowers I'll be eager to hear from you😊. Have a good day everyone!

Greaaaat!!! It is so cool when we get back something we thought was dead or missing!! I hope you future sunflowers success at 100% percent!

I'm trying to grow big sunflowers like that too. last year I bought some seeds at an animal food store and they grew but the sunflowers were small. A couple of months ago I saw in the house of a neighbor a really giant sunflower and asked for seeds but it happened the same to me, the neighbor told there were no seeds yet so I have to wait... but I'm saving a spot for that plant!!

Thank you 😍. I'm so excited to sow them but I should be patient because it's so hot maybe they won't thrive. Only if we're near done I want to share some seeds with you.

I'd love we lived close but I think we are like at the other side of the world apart xD But I still appreciate it, thanks!

I adore sunflowers. I have a story to tell about them but it'll take so long I may as well write it as a longer post! And the seeds are great for my chickens too. Mine were very short this year and no seeds, maybe they were dud seeds to start with1

Is that so? I want to know. I'll wait for that if you're ready to tell your story. I hope that when I sow this and harvest a lot of seeds, maybe I can make food for our chickens so that we can save on buying feeds.

Oh wow! I am always amazed to see gardens with sunflowers. What a journey you had with the sunflower seeds before and after the typhoon. May they thrive and grow profusely!
