Phone Photography 01 - Love Of A Mother Hen

avatar

Warmest greetings all I hope you are doing great.

This is my first post in this community and it's courtesy of the #phonephotography contest organized by @untilwelearn.
Actually I didn't know that this community exist, of course there are so many of them here on Hive, now that I know I'll try to post here often. I hope I will be welcomed.

I was scrolling through the feeds and the post popped up, I checked it and became interested and today I'm here to share these monomad photos of a mother hen and her chick that I captured on my way back from work some days ago.
They are not the best of pictures, no doubt but I just have to share it because it has a beautiful story behind it.

I live at the country side so I get to see lots of livestocks every day. On this fateful day while walking home I saw this mother hen with her four chicks. I'm guessing she took them out to teach them how to fend for themselves as seen in the image below.

When I got closer and took the shot, she noticed that someone, probably an intruder who had come to take away her chicks or some hawks that usually carry chicks away so she raised her head up to know who or what it was.

Not quite sure, she still stood looking and ready to fight the intruder if it comes to that. But note that her chicks were still busy picking away food from the ground without a care of what was happening around them. This is just the typical behavior of kids, they have no care in the world because they are sure of their parent's protection incase of any threat to their lives.

At this point, the mother hen now decided to make a move since whoever or whatever it was that's around them isn't ready to make any move either to attack them or maybe or go away.. She leads her chicks quietly and slowing away with the hope of finding a safe place to hide.

She understands that the task at hand now is to bring her chicks to safety first before thinking of what next to do. Even while they were going, she was still at alert. See how she looked backwards, hehehe.

Luckily, she finds a small plant not too far from them and they go there to hide as seen in the image. Now that her chicks are safe, she can then face what it was that came to delay her from teaching her chicks how to fend for themselves.

It was at this point that I decided to be on my way so I don't have a mother hen chasing me for disturbing their fun time or would I say, picnic, lol. Ah! you dare not provoke a mother hen, because she will attack you with full force and as you know, the beak is her weapon.

Mothers, whether human, or animals are everything and they are ready to do anything to protect their young ones from danger.

I hope you enjoyed this short story, I would love to get your feedback. Thank you.

All mothers are alert to protect their family and kids are carefree like this to enjoy their childhood, we are not different. Nice story!

You are very right. Humans and animals behave almost alike.
I appreciate your support.
