The Dentist and Throwback Thursday!

Do you enjoy visiting the dentist?

I never used to until a friend recommended someone who is a mere five minutes away from us, and the dentist and I immediately felt a connection!

He is one of the kindest and most humble men I have ever met; always makes me laugh...and talk too much... but so does he!
Well, he has the advantage after all, as one cannot talk with a mouth wide open, and all kinds of stuff happening inside it!

Kindred spirits often come into our lives in the most unexpected places!
My dentist is a Hare Krishna follower and I am Christian, but this does not mean there needs to be a barrier between us, rather the opposite!
Wars have been fought, all in the name of religion and this is something that simply does not gel with me!

Back to my visit today, I cannot talk with my mouth stretched open like a fish out of water as he had to get down to serious work as this is a very difficult tooth.
You see, and I'm sure those of my generation can attest to the fact that as one gets older more mature, the teeth also start giving up the ghost, but thank heavens he's been able to save this one!

I used to have a phobia that the drill-bit would shoot out and be lodged somewhere inside my mouth, or worse still, down my throat while the dentist is busy drilling my tooth, but I no longer have that fear as I have absolute trust in this wonderful man!

I would never have imagined walking out of the dentist's consulting room feeling uplifted and in high spirits a couple of years ago when I used to visit the dentist full of trepidation, despite his smart and shiny consulting rooms!

My day was further brightened up by a surprise call and visit from three of my old work buddies who I had not seen since Covid started, so while I was having my tooth fixed, hubby went out and bought some nibbles.

Of course they also stopped off at one of our favourite Indian restaurants, and brought all my favourites - chili bites, potato fry, samoosas and vadas, but I forgot to take a pic of those when they arrived as there was too much talking going on!

I wrote about A friend for every season not so long ago, and today's visit brought back fond memories of my days as a corporate working gal!

We chatted as there was much catching up to do, and they stayed much longer than planned, but their 'site visit' to our home was excused as the boss was with them:)
It's so good to get together with old friends and feel the years fall away as you connect again and remember the good and the sad times you shared!

This Thursday has been good to me!

Sounds like your dentist visit was a lot more pleasant than @galenkp's! Now I feel I must write my dentist story - seems like a thing this week on HIVE!

What a wonderful Thursday for you, Lizelle. I also have apprehensions when visiting other dentists that the one I was used to. Glad your new dentist made you feel pleasant and a visit from your friends has added to your day's bliss... It is always nice to catch up with friends whom we haven't seen for a while.

It was awesome seeing my old work buddies (well, they're not old, I am) I should rather say my ex work buddies not so! Hope you also find a good and caring dentist😉😁

Ex is more like it although I don't think they would mind when we say old work buddies hehe :) I have been going to one caring dentist in the city for years but I'll be trying a different one here in the countryside on Tuesday :)

I don't like dentists and doctors lol! @lizelle glad you had an awesome day, it's so nice to see old work mates again. I still keep in touch with some of mine, one builds up a relationship with them when at work, they become like a second family.
Thanks for sharing.
