Granny knits for Baby Arthur - self introduction

avatar
(Edited)

This is the first post of a new series called Granny knits for Baby Arthur.

This cutie is Baby Arthur and he is my great nephew, his mummy is my niece Mummy K, and his Granny is my sister. Baby Arthur is nearly three months old. They are quite a private family hence Baby Arthur is quite shy. Granny is a knitter and has been knitting a lot of clothes for Baby Arthur. She also knits a lot of dolls clothes which she sells on ebay. I will be sharing Granny's work here (permission granted of course) to help build up Baby Arthur's education fund 😊

The other reason I'm posting on their behalf is because I can't knit myself. I can knit a scarve, but that's not really knitting, at least not by the standards in the Needlework community. Granny's work is really quite extraordinary and is definitely worthy to share with more people.

The first outfit I want to share today is this Christmas sleeveless jumper turning Baby Arther into a baby father christmas. Personally I love this outfit as it is so cute especially the orange buckle and black belt that highlights his little belly. He's matched with some socks which you can tell are too big for him. Think Granny is knitting in advance already! In fact, she will have to knit another Christmas outfit for Baby Arthur next year as he won't be able to fit into this one again!!

I'm sorry I can't show you Baby Arthur's face and how cute he is as I have to respect the family wishes, but hopefully you can get a glimpse of his chubby cheeks which I am just dying to pinch!!! Will be back next time with more of Granny works.

Lol, I can't wait to see his chubby cheeks someday.
And you just made a statement, so you mean sharing a knitted scarf isn't a standard of the Needlework community? Why is that?

Because knitting a scarf is pretty easy (it must be because I can do it!!!) and everyone's work in the Needlework community is so good and at an expert level 😅

Hehe, he. I see your point. Exactly, at an expert level. Now I am discouraged cause mine isn't at the expert level either😂 I also know how to knit scarf, c
Head warmer and simple bag and perhaps a straight cut skirt lol.
Not really an expert you see?

I don't think so. I already know you are pulling a leg. Not until I see your works

That is such a wonderful compliment to the members of the Community! You’d be surprise how many beginners are here. There are beginners to advanced skills but we are all learning and growing together. It’s funny because even some of the members who have been doing needlework for a lifetime have stated they still learn things from being here.

Any needlework project is welcome to be shown here, even your knitted scarf. ☺️😉

I never knit a scarf in my life! Started two, but never managed to finish them hangs head in shame

But hey, I live in Northern Germany where you don't really need scarfs. Though you might need a nice shawl for those summer days when you're happy the temperatures go up to 18° ;)

Hey @livinguktaiwan! Welcome to the NeedleWorkMonday Community!

This little outfit is sooo cute! I really like the belt too and that the sweater is sleeveless. It’s a good thing she made the socks a little bigger so he will have more time in them!

Thanks for sharing your sister’s work with us!

Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We do encourage members to share the process of their work through photos but when you are sharing others work we understand they that will most likely not happen. It is totally fine because we also love seeing the work of our loved ones. Posts like these are more than welcome. 😀

I also want to add that there is a variety of needlework skills here...from beginning to advance. We don’t want anyone feeling like knitting a scarf is not good enough to share here. Whatever is in your heart to share with us we will accept it and support it. Some of our members tried their first needlework crafts after joining the community.

I must admit that it is pretty neat knowing we have really worked hard to set a certain standard of quality here (based on your statement) and that it is showing through to others. However, we don’t want you to ever think what you have to share is not worth sharing. We are all here to grow together so why not show us what you’re working on? 😉

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.

Thank you ~ 💛

Thanks for your encouraging words @crosheille, although I haven't been active in the community, I enjoy browsing people's post every now and then, that's why I'm amazed by their creations.

I have knitted in the past and had a dab at crochet, but it's been ages ago. I'm going to get myself a crochet hook and some yarn tomorrow, I think I may be able to manage that if I put some time and effort in it. Hope I can share it soon!!

Absolutely ;)

So glad to hear when people enjoy browsing the community.

Whoooo Hoooo! I am so excited to hear this! 😃

I am looking forward to seeing the work you share. No rush. Take your time we’re not going anywhere. 😄

Do you know how to read patterns or did you do your own creations in the past? I mostly get my projects from patterns but am slowly trying to break away to do more of my own creations. It’s soooooo time consuming but rewarding in the end.

Ohhh! Cute Little Arthur! That knitted jumpsuit looks lit. Granny did very, very well.

I only started learning how to crochet last year during the lockdowns but knitting seems intriguing too. I wonder if I can also learn how to knit. 🤔

Thank you @arrliinn

I've knitted some children's garments ages ago and I remember it wasn't too difficult, but I may have chosen some fairly simple patterns. I think it's a good hobby to take up during these times, and you can make some practical stuff as well. Good luck!

My needlework keeps me sane. Especially during the last year. And a hobby where you have lovely things to wear or as gifts is great per se ;)

What a gorgeous outfit for cutie pie Arthur hiding behind that heart!
I just love the design, your sister's knitting is lovely.
I tried knitting many years ago but couldn't get the tension right, so the jerseys were either too big or too small;)
Sewing I do enjoy but my favourite still is cooking and baking.
PS my hubby also is an Arthur, some mischievously call him King Arthur and me Guinevere;);)

I wanted to say that the mini jacket looked like one which Santa wore. Hahhaha, I discovered that you started that later in the post. I love the outfit and he looks so adorable. Your hands are gifted truly!
