Ketipes is a plant that is widespread in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia. Regional names in Indonesia include ketipes, parenan, pulungan, cecenet areuy, and pepare brackets.

Cardiospermum is a genus of about 14 species in the soapberry family, Sapindaceae, native to tropical regions of America, India, and Africa. The genus name comes from the Greek words , meaning "heart," and , meaning "seed.
