Mother's Day: Love and family union / Dia de las Madres: Amor y unión familiar
Last weekend was Mother's Day , a day full of emotion and meaning for our culture. Since I was a child, Mother's Day has always been one of the most important days in my family, and we would always get together to honor our mothers and thank them for everything they do for us.
This year we decided to celebrate it in the beautiful province of Cienfuegos, staying at the Pasacaballos Hotel. We returned Monday night and had to go back to work the next day, so I couldn't tell you about it earlier, but I didn't want to overlook it, as it was a special day we spent together as a family.
El pasado fin de semana fue el Día de la Madre, un día lleno de emoción y significado para nuestra cultura. Desde que era niña, el Día de la Madre siempre ha sido uno de los días más importantes en mi familia, y siempre nos reuníamos para honrar a nuestras madres y agradecerles todo lo que hacen por nosotros.
Este año decidimos celebrarlo en la hermosa provincia de Cienfuegos, alojándonos en el Hotel Pasacaballos. Regresamos el lunes por la noche y tuvimos que volver al trabajo al día siguiente, así que no pude contarles antes, pero no quise pasarlo por alto, ya que fue un día especial que pasamos juntos en familia.
Cuban culture is strongly rooted in family, in my particular case I always make sure to spend Mother's Day with my mother, my son and my husband. Although my siblings have emigrated to Venezuela, on this occasion I was able to spend the day with my older brother's children who live in Cuba.
My nephews live in the province of Cienfuegos and went to the Hotel to be with us on this day. It was very special for all of us, where we were able to enjoy the company of our loved ones. In addition, we made waste of our love and despite living far away, we are always looking out for each other, every time we have the opportunity we unite despite the challenges, there was no better opportunity than this.
La cultura cubana está fuertemente arraigada a la familia, en mi caso particular siempre me aseguro de pasar el Día de las Madres con mi madre, mi hijo y mi esposo. Aunque mis hermanos han emigrado a Venezuela, en esta ocasión pude pasar el día con los hijos de mi hermano mayor que viven en Cuba.
Mis sobrinos viven en la provincia de Cienfuegos y fueron al Hotel para estar con nosotros en este día. Fue muy especial para todos, donde pudimos disfrutar de la compañía de nuestros seres queridos. Además, hicimos derroche de nuestro amor y a pesar de vivir lejos, siempre estamos pendientes los unos de los otros, cada vez que tenemos la oportunidad nos unimos a pesar de los desafíos, no hubo mejor oportunidad que esta.
Although the economic situation has affected many Cuban families and young people have emigrated, family is still a very important value in our culture. That's why I always try to keep my family together and spend time together, enjoying every moment.
On this Mother's Day, the men in the family took it upon themselves to make us feel special. We spent the whole day at the hotel pool, enjoying the sun and the water. My nephews brought the chiquitica of the family, my mother's great-granddaughter, who is a delightful and fun-loving little girl. It was a day full of laughter, games and good times with the family.
Aunque la situación económica ha afectado a muchas familias cubanas y jóvenes han emigrado, la familia sigue siendo un valor muy importante en nuestra cultura. Por eso siempre trato de mantener a mi familia unida y pasar tiempo juntos, disfrutando de cada momento.
En este Día de la Madre, los hombres de la familia se encargaron de hacernos sentir especiales. Pasamos todo el día en la piscina del hotel, disfrutando del sol y del agua. Mis sobrinos trajeron a la chiquitica de la familia, la bisnieta de mi madre, que es una niña encantadora y muy divertida. Fue un día lleno de risas, juegos y buenos momentos en familia.
I was very happy that day, among other things because my mother, who is special to me, never asks me for anything either and is satisfied with what life gives her. Despite having gone to Cienfuegos many times, she had never been to that Hotel and she was amazed at the natural environment of that area. Being able to give her that gift and that she enjoyed it so much filled me with joy. I am so filled with gratitude for everything my mother has given me throughout my life, that bringing joy to her is my main motive.
Ese día fui muy feliz, entre otras cosas porque mi madre, que es un ser especial para mí, tampoco me pide nunca nada y se conforma con lo que la vida le da. A pesar de haber ido muchas veces a Cienfuegos, nunca había estado en ese Hotel y se quedó maravillada con el entorno natural de esa zona, poder hacerle ese regalo y que lo disfrutara tanto me llenó de alegría. Estoy tan llena de gratitud por todo lo que mi madre me ha dado a lo largo de mi vida, que traerle alegría es mi principal motivo.
Mother's Day was an excellent day, full of love and good times. Despite the challenges we face as a society, we still maintain our values and family unity, which helps us overcome any obstacle. Together we made the queen of the family, my mom, have a special day.

El Día de la Madre fue un día excelente, lleno de amor y buenos momentos. A pesar de los retos a los que nos enfrentamos como sociedad, seguimos manteniendo nuestros valores y la unidad familiar, que nos ayuda a superar cualquier obstáculo. Juntos hicimos que la reina de la familia, mi mamá, tuviera un día especial.
