Dairy of a struggling mother episode 2 : Healthy eating habits.

Time is running so fast and it's hard to keep up these days, my kids got ill and it took me off balance for a while, it was hard to focus on other things and I'm just gradually going back to my normal routine.

I hate making excuses but being a mom has not made that easy, should I talk about days we were ready to go out and I had given my friends my word that I would be out but one of the kids started acting up and I couldn't go again. This has happened multiple times I have lost count.

My Kids

Motherhood is a life of sacrifice and it's a forever job, you can't take a holiday from it. So make your choice carefully.

In my post today I want to share with you my struggles with healthy eating for my kids. My kids are in the habit of falling ill together at the same time, if one is ill today before you know it the other is ill the next day. It can be frustrating.

I read a book one day and it was talking about how it's easy for a person to emulate the diet they were bought up with. Exactly my case, my parents were not particular about healthy living they just gave us food that was available at the time.

I started doing that to my kids as well until I started researching children's diets then I realized I had been doing a lot of things wrong.

To build a strong immune system for my kids I need to be intentional about their diet. I need to add fruits and vegetables to their daily meals.

So I'm on a challenge to build a strong immune system for my kids. I have stopped all the sugary foods and drinks and unhealthy snacks. I have replaced them with fruits and vegetables. They love proteins and carbohydrates so well.

It was not easy trying to remove sugary foods and drinks from my kid's diet as my first daughter was already used to it. I have to apply wisdom. I gradually introduced the fruits and vegetables. Not like they weren't eating fruits and vegetables but it wasn't a daily thing.

My second daughter loves avocado so much and I am so happy about that because it's healthy for her and it's the way she sleeps peacefully whenever she eats avocado. I don't know the science behind it but adding avocado to her diet is a game changer. She doesn't sleep well in the afternoon but since she started eating avocado, it's been better. Kindly share with me in the comment section if you know the science behind this. Thanks.

It is getting better daily as they are gradually liking their new diet, I keep finding new and innovative ways to improve their diet and I hope this time around they don't get ill more often

Do we have other parents who struggle with keeping a healthy diet for their kids? Please share with me in the comment section, let me know how it's going or how you were able to improve their diet.

Kids naturally crave and look for the food parents put in front of them. Kudos to you for being intentional in your children's food choices. Just keep introducing them to healthy food and gradually remove all the sweets. It will take a long time, but if they consistently see healthy food on the table, they'll eventually want and crave for more fruitd and vegetables.

Exactly!
We just have to be intentional in this parental journey.
It's not easy but it's always worth it.
Thank you.

I also have struggles with my children regarding their diet. same with you, my first daughter is used to having sugary food and my 2nd 🥺 she doesn't even want vegetables. I hope I can also start giving them nutritious food.

Last month, I called my uncle who is a medical doctor to recommend to me an immune boaster I should use for my kids but he said no..the best immune boaster is ensuring that the kids eat healthy meals and fruits
The struggle is real but no excuse, we gat to keep pushing as intentional parents
