Pirate Portrait

Some years ago I lived with a crazy hippie pirate sadhu street performer. This guy even had a bed of nine inch nails.

The pirate character was one he performed on the streets, and with his dreds and beard, he fit the part to a T. However, while with the rise of popularity of pirates amongst kids in a great part thanks to Pirates of the Caribbean, he had to contend with them asking him if he was Captain Jack Sparrow, much to his disappointment.

Never the less the show went on.

He's such a character in life, he makes a great character on paper also. I also ended up doing a colour oil painting.

This particular sketch works well on it's coloured paper. It almost looks like old paper on which if you turned it over you might find a treasure map. Come to think of it, that would have been a great idea, but the drawing already has a home with a collector.
