Watch Me Paint Clown, Like a Clown I am

$1

Hello, how are you? My season of Nespresso depresso is waving at me, and yeah, I can feel it coming LOL. I don't know if I am ready for it, but I am trying my very best to beat it with every best I can hehe.

So yeah, I've been feeling like a clown lately, and a gloomy clown to be specific, so I painted that gloomy clown using acrylic, and actually I felt better after doing it hahahaha.

The funny thing is, I like to display all my paintings on my window, and then Mochi is doing her thing on my bed, and she saw my painting and kept barking at it hahahaha. I got in on video, and I am going to show it to my parents later.

And I can finally use the canvas panel I made weeks ago LOL.

Materials I Used:

  • 6x6 Canvas Panel
  • Colored Pencil
  • Paintbrush
  • Acrylic Paints
  • 2 Jar of Water
  • Tissue
  • Spray Water Bottle
  • Pallete Tray

Let's Paint!

First thing I do is to sketch my subject, I use colored pencil this time to avoid the muddy color.

I like to tone up my canvas first. I use burnt sienna. I apply not too much, just to turn off any whites from the canvas. I use a spray bottle to thin out the paint.

After that, I started outlining my subject with dark brown just to make the reference visible. I decided to add green as my background color because it is a complementary color to the subject I am going to paint.

And then I started layering the face with a thin layer of white paint, just enough to cover the color under it.

I did add a layer of hair and clothes.

And then I added the outline of the reference, and I almost forgot to add the mouth paint around the mouth, so I added it, made it big, I like how it turned out, so I stuck to it.

Never forget the nose

It looks like a mess at first, just trust the process.

I just keep layering, adding shadow and highlight at the same time.

I almost forgot the hat. I like to keep it simple.

Then I finalize the background with green.

And to make the background more interesting, I added a balloon float behind the subject.

Finish it with a signature.

Did a little photoshoot.
