Sunflower In Oil Pastel

$1

Hello, how are you? It has been weeks since I last posted some of my Oil Pastel art. I remembered the one I drew, but the inspiration was gone instantly after doing just the sketch, now that I have the energy to finish it.

I've been manifesting on buying a new Oil Pastel, the one brand I've been eyeing for years now, but I don't have the strength to buy it LOL.

I am going to draw one of my favorite flowers, which is Sunflower I dont know I just like how in any form, when it blooming or just drying it just love it so much. What flower do you like?

Materials I Used:

  • Oil Pastel
  • Paper
  • Scraping Tool

Time To Draw!

I've been loving drawing on big paper, so I am going to use both pages of my sketchbook. I drew the line art using the green oil pastel.

I start with their respective color and layer them by lightly drawing them.

I just continue layering it until the color finally comes together. I've been debating inside my head whether I am going to do green as the background color.

I start layering the lighter color with darker shades, and now the sunflower is starting to look like a sunflower, LOL.

Then I start adding the background color. I'm really committed to the green background, so no backing out.

Then the darker values weren't enough to my liking, so I added another layer of it.

To make the sunflower pop out more, I decided to add an accent darker shade of green, reflecting at the back of the sunflowers.

To add texture and to add a unique highlight, I use this clay tool to scratch out some of the oil pastel to reveal the light of it.

After doing the scratching, I added a little bit of an accent color to add a unique twist to it, and I'm telling you I did not regret any of it LOL.

Love how it turns out.

I thought the green background is not going to work, I guess I'm wrong. Adding the accent color made it more unique, but make sure that the accent color is complementary to that color so that it will blend well.
