Oranges In Oil Pastels

$1

Hello, how are you? I've been loving eating oranges, especially when it is cold, the sweet, juicy orange. The moment that pulp pops out inside your mouth is so satisfying.

I have this habit of taking photos of what I eat, especially if it looks like it is good for reference for art later, and that's what I always do whenever I eat fruits, and that's what I am going to do.

To stop myself from stressing over what reference I should draw, I just roll back to my gallery and just choose what reference I should draw as easily as that.

So I am going to draw an oil pastel of orange this time, and I really love drawing orange.

Materials I Used:

  • Paper
  • Oil Pastel
  • Tissue
  • Scratching Tool

Craft Time!

First thing to do is to place all the materials I am going to need in an easy-to-access place.

For the line art, I chose brown pastel to draw the sketch or line art, and then I lightly added a layer of shades of orange.

Then green for the leaves, of course, and blue is the perfect background color for the orange.

I layer it with more opaque colors, and I make sure to add the darker shades of each respective color, and then layer it with lighter shades to blend both of them.

Layer the orange until all the parts are completely covered, but not totally, and just pretty much add shadows to the parts that need to be darkened.

Blend the darker part to make it look more blended and dimensional at the same time.

Then I added an accent color to make the drawing look more interesting and unique at the same time, and I intensified the shadows of each part of the orange to make it believable.

I like to finish it by adding whites. I like to layer it hard to make it have textured white to it. And pretty much do all the previous things I did earlier to polish it.

21.JPG

Using one of my clay tools as my scratching tool to add texture and highlight that a pastel cannot do.

Close up look at the drawing.

I hope you like it.

Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
Please take care of your mental health as well.
I hope you are okay today :))
