Orange Oil Pastels Art Is Back!

Hello, how are you? I've been very busy today. I cleaned the whole house, LOL, not actually the only place I am in charge of cleaning and I'm pretty productive today and I've been back on doing acrylic painting and I am in 95% on finishing it and while I am in break I decided to draw in oil pastel because it is been a while since I drew one and I am proud to say that I am back drawing orange again, one of my favorite fruit to draw using oil pastels.
So yeah, there is this meme that is popular here in the Philippines about "orange" that is famously named "Sharmaine," which is so funny because why name orange with orange? LOL but yeah. I hope you enjoy the process of me drawing it.
Materials I Used:
- Paper
- Oil Pastels
- Tape
- Tissue
- Scratching Tool
Craft Time!
First, I taped the paper I am using on a chipboard from my watercolor paper just to secure it, and then I used blue shade color to draw the line art.
Then I layer the line art with base colors in different shades of their respective colors. And then I start layering it more to make it opaque.
Added a shadow by using their complementary color just to prevent the colors from ending up muddy-looking. For the shadow, I use dark blue to color the shadow, and then I layer it with the subject color to blend it, and then I go to the next, like the middle color, and then to the highlight.
I decided to focus on the oranges before the background, so I am not bothered that I didn't add the background color first, which is a good sign that I am doing it right.
I get compliments for doing a blue background, so whenever I draw one, I always use blue.
Use darker blue for shadows and then fill everything with different shades of blue. I like to intensify the shadow, so I use black on it.
Finish it by using a scratching tool to add texture.
I limited myself from adding too much texture. Simple is always the best LOL.
I hope you like it!
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D

Oo wow ! The drawing looks great 😃.
Thank you so much for presenting each step beautifully and smoothly using oil pastel colors, which is especially interesting. Moreover, it looks exactly like the fruits, which is very beautiful to look at. I always appreciate your artistic skills and thank you for sharing.
