Grapes Tanghulu Handmade Clay Keychain

grapetanghulu.gif

Hello, how are you? I’ve seen a video on the internet of people buying tanghulu at a food bazza and end up being disappointed because one they pay so much money for a tanghulu that is not tanghuluing LOL.

If I were in that situation, I would never step into that vendor ever again, so making it at home is the best decision to taste it.

Today I am going to make a clay keychain, but this time the fruit I am going to use is grapes, the classic ones.

Materials I Used:

1.JPG

  • Glass Sheet
  • Translucent Clay
  • Weighing Scale Portable
  • Gum Container
  • Toothpick
  • Soft Pastels
  • Makeup brush
  • Eyepin
  • Silicone Mat
  • Oven
  • UV Resin
  • Needle Tool
  • UV Light
  • Disposable Gloves
  • Pliers
  • Keychain

Craft Time!

To make the grape more realistic, using translucent clay is the key. I condition it until the texture of it is smooth enough to work with

And then weigh each clay at the same size just for uniformity.

One by one, I shape them into a grape shape.

Then I put in one by one the clay into the toothpick.

Then, using soft pastel, I added a layer of color of grapes, which I started with lighter shades first and then went to the darkest.

Then I added eyepin, the use of this is where I connect the keychain, so it is important to have it in the clay.

Put it onto the silicone mat and wait for the oven to preheat, and then bake it at the temperature and time in the packaging instructed.

20.JPG

I mix UV Resin and a little bit of a brown shade of soft clay just to imitate the sugar glaze that a tanghulu has. And then apply that mixture to the clay.

21.JPG

22.JPG

And then I cure it under UV Light for about 5 minutes or until the texture of the resin is no longer sticky.

23.JPG

24.JPG

To add the keychain, I will need two pliers, and what I do is I put the jump ring into the eyepin.

25.JPG

26.JPG

And then lock it using the pliers. And done!

As always, you've done a really beautiful job with your molding technique; these keychains look gorgeous.
