Come back with me @lancang, I'm a wood worker and I work in my own workshop, even though my workshop is simple but I'm still happy because after a long time working in someone else's place I can finally feel how nice it is if we have our own workshop and also I can manage all my activities without any pressure, maybe you all can understand what if you work as a subordinate in your respective workplace.

Talking about work, of course there are many things that we can review, ranging from small things to big things, from boredom to seriousness at work, all of that cannot be separated from how we start our work in the morning, there are some people who are demanded to work because there are several factors that require it and this is the kind of thing that most people feel bored in doing their work, but it can be treated, maybe one of them is with a weekend getaway with family or friends.

There are also some people who work with their own desires and are full of pleasure, so this can slightly hinder the arrival of boredom and boredom at work so that it can make work easier and more comfortable, and it can also make a person totality in doing his job.

Make work a goal so that all processes in work will be accompanied by love, if the money we make as a goal will of course have an impact on the totality of work and selfishness will appear so that it will eliminate love so that you get used to compulsion which has an impact on the lack of seriousness and totality in your work. work.

If love is our priority and we love our work, then every second we spend at work will be happy and enjoyable, and we will always enjoy work, just as we enjoy a pleasant trip, and love will make us entertained and can also make us happy and help us in all the problems we face.

And that's a little review from me about work and now we go straight to the point of my post, through the picture above it can be understood that the core of my post is to explain things related to that simple table.

This table is an order from my customer who came to my workshop last week, he said he wanted to order a table to be used as a dining table with a simple shape but he didn't order the chair because he said he already had several rubber chairs in his house, so I Briefly draw it on paper for me to show it to him and he is interested, so I immediately work on it, incidentally also there are no other orders.

This table has a length of 120 cm and a width of 80 cm and has a height of 75 cm and this is the size that is widely used in making a dining table for 4 chairs and this size is ideal for Southeast Asian people, especially Indonesia, where most of the people are not tall and not tall. big, but in other areas I don't know much like in Europe, where most people are tall and big, maybe you can tell me in the comments column.

Like a table in general, it has 4 legs as a support so that the table is solid, the same thing with the table I made, for the first process I prepared wood for the legs with a size of 4 cm x 6 cm and a length of 73.2 cm as many as 4 pieces, why is it that long ? Because for the table top I use plywood with a thickness of 18 mm so that the final result of this table is 75 cm high, as for the wood that I use for the legs is "bengkirai" wood, this wood is classified as hard and durable wood, judging from its slightly red color. black and also the fibers are tight and unidirectional, and those are some of the characteristics of hard wood that I know of and maybe there are many more characteristics.

IMG20220817162022.jpg

And for the connection system, my fruit is a bit different from other tables that I posted some time ago, which usually I make holes to insert the panels, but this time I made them by carving them through one side to the other so that later the wood will combine the four the leg is directly related and this system in my opinion is more solid and durable, it may be difficult to explain it through writing, you can see for yourself from the picture I show above.

Then prepare the wood as a connector between the four legs as much as 4 pieces, 2 pieces according to the width of the table and 2 pieces according to the length of the table, but I reduce each 3 cm so that it looks a little inside from the table top, and also the shape I made a little variation to make it look good, and for the wood I used "Dutch teak" wood.

And at each end of the wood I chisel and cut according to the size of the carving on the table leg and also so that each wood is tied to one another, of course this method is more robust, and you can listen to it in the picture below.

IMG20220817162112.jpg

And then I started assembling it, I glued all the parts that would be connected to the table legs one by one and connected them to each other, and also I added 2 pieces of wood in the middle of the table as additional support for the table top to make it stronger, and also not I forgot that in every corner of the table I added wood that I cut with a 90 degree slope as a fastener between one side and the other, and also so that the table was precise.

After everything was assembled, then I attached the plywood as the table top by gluing and gluing it, then I waited for an hour or so for the glue to dry, and I continued to clean the remaining side of the glue that had dried and also sanded all parts of the table.

Then I continued to the caulking process, all the marks from the screws I putty and also the connection part I putty to make it look neat, after the putty was dagger then I melted the putty with thinner to apply it to all parts of the table, I did this so that all wood fibers can be neatly covered so that later when the painting process, the paint is no longer absorbed into the wood, and also this can make the results of the painting more shiny.

After all the parts that I applied with liquid putty dried, then I sanded it using sandpaper number 400 to make it smoother and neater, and after everything was finished then I cleaned all parts of the table from putty dust and others until everything was clean.

And then I started painting it using "reddish clay" varnish and as the name implies, the color of this table looks reddish and shiny, I did this painting process for 3 layers and each layer had to be left on for 3 hours so that the paint was completely dry. , and then I continue to the next layer until it's finished.

I really liked the finish that the red clay gave to the table, I feel that it is a bit tedious since you have to wait 3 hours per layer. Even so, the wait did its thing and an excellent result was given. I hope that client is really happy and uses it constantly.

That's true dear @lancang. As long as passion is embedded in your work, boredom will never overpower it. As for your dining table, it looks simple on the outside but entails complex joinery details not obvious to the human eye. That piece of beautiful furniture is simply a labor of love! 😊

May I know how many days did it take you to complete that project from start to finish?

In completing this project I needed 4 working days, the first day for the process of preparing the wood and making all the connections, the second day the assembly process of all the parts and also the installation of the table top, and the third day the process of caulking and painting 2 layers, and on the fourth day the process of painting the last layer and waiting for it to dry completely before the next day I bring it to my consumer's house,,, thank you very much for your support, I appreciate it..🙏🙏🙏🙏

Oh wonderful, such a tedious activity indeed! It simply takes time to assemble and finally deliver a piece of dining furniture like that. Thanks for the prompt feedback @lancang! 😊
